I have noticed that after more than two years and native instruments have not released a tutorial for massive. There are a few basic videos on you tube but thats about it. I have been buying NI's products for years and if there's one thing NI does good; it's not listen to their user's. They make good products for professionals; but haven't really thought innovatively about their users needs. I'm slowly moving to Ableton as my kontakt experience is dying. Massive is the last hope and if there is no hope; then my love affair with NI will come to an end. Kontakt is now a sampler instrument for musicians looking to emulate real instruments and not for experimentative sound design; which is fair enough.

Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please Please

    MAKE SOME TUTORIALS FOR MASSIVE

Just do it !, it dosen't cost much

What do you call the first video on the list here, then?

    http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/media-center/?q=Massive
And why do you say that? Explain please... :~
    ? again.

Kontakt can definitely be used for experimental sound design. Why do you say it cant?

Watching that video is like reading microsoft documentation- makes me want to cry. The reason why I cited Ableton is that they designed the program according to user requests from the forum; which Ableton staff read regularly and answer. Kontakt 3 is good but not ergonomic. Dosen't matter anyhow, I was just trying to help out other people as well that have just bought plugins and may want to expand on their knowledge. I Just wanna make music !

    Thank you Jeskola, :p

Well, if after working 2 years with Massive someone really has difficulties using an easy to use synthesizer as this one, maybe he's is doing something wrong?

Couldn't agree more with Mr-Emulator. If MASSIVE is not easy enough, then maybe you are not well familiar with sound design basics. MASSIVE has an interface which is easier to use than most much more simple and less capable instruments. And I am not sure what NI can do more than what they did, as MASSIVE installation comes with very easy to understand video tutorials.

If you really can't find your way around it, why not look into buying some of the available patch libraries for it?

Please allow me to recommend mine, for example:

Yeah it can be, but its a sample player, not a sampler. Its definately true that Kontakt has become oriented to play prebuilt libraries in recent times. Not to say you cant do sound design with those, but they sound as they are supposed to. Exactly how the designer intended.

Thats like buying an iPod and trying to do experimental development with the OS. Sure you can, but the environment doesnt promote that in new users.

but you can import your own samples into Kontakt and do really complex sound designing with those samples.

This guy is right... where are all the great presets for this nice synth that lacks enough good sounds?

and where is the user library for massive?

i agree there really does need to be a User Library.

i also agree that many of the sounds in the Massive Library are not to my taste.

however, the Massive Threat soundpack has some great sounds.

also, if you do understand basic subtractive synthesis, then Massive is not so difficult to understand. however, you do need to be able to grasp the concepts and transfer them to Massive, and this will take a bit of work.

oh I see. yeah some of the online samples sound good.

What about Best of Massive, Massive Exp Pk V1, and Massive Exp pk V2? Are these good sounding? Because I assume you have agreed that the the majority of stock Massive and even stock FM8 sounds are totally missing that more evil Terminator vibe.

Not everybody wants that evil Terminator vibe, though :~

The best of Massive doesn't really make sense if you own Massive; it's more for Kore/Kore player owners who don't also have Massive. I like some of the stuff in the two expansions, though. And as Phil points out, prpgramming Massive isn't that difficult.

i dont care if not everybody wants that vibe... thats irrelevant to the fact that it is missing that particular type of sound. regardless of various people's needs.

There's no point in complaining. You will not get any answers or solutions to your problems from NI. Its not your fault the presets that come with massive are rubbish and boring and even though its interface is well laid-out and simple, where is there a reference to start from. Try a synth like Twin2 by Fabfilter for a set of pre-made Analogue sounds that can be used straight out of the box. Try using massive for if you want to make specialised or customised sounds/patterns, but don't rely on it for a sound design inspiration because it won't happen; not from my 4 years experience of using it anyway.

The reason I said to use another synth like fabfilter twin2 (not plugging by the way) is because you can reverse-engineer a sound to find its structure and apply it to your own creations.

That's a matter of opinion on whether the presets are rubbish. As for a reference to start from, maybe the init patch?
Massive doesn't try to be analog; that's like comparing apples to oranges.
Once again- your opinion. Personally, I find Massive both inspirational and easy to program. YMMV...
And what's stopping you from doing the same with Massive? A poor craftsman blames his tools...
