How close is N.I. to releasing the next major version 2.0?

Can N.I. provide us with a bit of insight if 2.0 is in the near future. thanks

i'm going to be an azz on this one - after 1.9 LMAO! because i had to.... but i expect to see a larger maschine hardware controller - so thats Maschine/ Mikro Maschine/ and Mega Maschine (yes it will have a keyboard, and tilt-able screens, some audio ins and outs, and will be under 1000) hey, and yes it will come loaded with your infamous version 2.0 ==== i know i said i was going to be an azz on this one.... i'm just wishfully thinking... maschine rules!

Yo I agree with the keyboard version of Maschine that would be soooooooo dope. I would get it and get rid of my novation. 1.9 would make no sense at this point. On the record? 2.0?

:confused:I'm curious to see what N.I. has on their list for 2.0 a new Gui,with dedicated sofware mixer with dedicated deeper sampling capabilities, timestretching, more midi features, audio tracks, save sounds with groups, I mean, I would think N.I. can at least deliver a list like this.

OH and don't u dare to forget to allow the software plugin version to control daws transports! wow such a big feature has been sorely missed..

A new controller perhaps is on their wave for the future, but the SOFTWARE is what's important to me. If we get into a trend of buying newer gear without the software features,it's all pointless, with that being said, I'd def buy a newer controller if it had dedicated buttons, for things vs. shift this and that.. Tilted screen YES//

This actually doesn't sound to far fetched expect for the keyboard. I tend to feel that the 2.0 update will drop with new controller.

Since maschine really caters to users of the mpc somewhat. You would be happy if they don't improve the controller that's out now, and then NI all of sudden come out with a keyboard version of maschine instead? I guess the keyboard controller will have the maschine pads and knobs. With that said you would have rather lug around a 61, 37, 25 key version of Maschine? I don't think producers like Needlez, No ID, Ski Beatz, and someone from an MPC background would like for a keyboard version to replace the current maschine. I'm ask ski beatz what he would think of that. This is just coming from the side of a urban producer. If they do get rid of the current version and replace it with a keyboard version, maybe ableton or akai will come out with something, and I will switch. You guys I hope some you took the ableton survey. They asked some interesting questions. Anyhooo, lets see what happens.

def waiting on both akai and ableton to do something, akai is behind big time, but it's only a matter of time, before they and ableton drop something good..I think many producers would love a keyboard, that samples, such as the asr10 of old. Obviously not just urban,or hip hop producers used the asr10.. so..

Can't hurt them, and def not us, if they continue to work on the software and keep adding what we need. I'd def take advantage of it if they created one.I think n.i. would create a nice one, with a good feel, but more importantly,is the SOFTWARE~

Maschine 2.0? For me, I like the idea of having an actual instrument (see MPC) versus just a light-weight controller. The first thing NI needs to improve is the LCD. A flat LCD is so 1990. An adjustable LCD is a must. I would also like audio I/O and more robust MIDI capabilities.

For the software....sample editing...sample editing...and more sample editing. Timetsretch, pitchshifting, audio tracks, etc are needed for a hyrbid product.

Ugh. I expect 2.0 will come with a new controller as well, but if it has a keyboard tacked onto the side I definitely won't be buying it. Which would be a bummer, as I expect there will be some features I really like.

    To answer OP's question: eventually.

Ni should make moves like Shaft would make moves
1.v2.0 = cut the umbilical cord! go straight hardware device.

    2. leave maschine 1 alone, upgrade mikro with more knobs and a crossfader

    3. do what ableton is doing now, get that sofware right, forget about a daw and get back to basics or else when it's daw time you will have to go back and make corrections cause you didn't do it right the first time, ni has been through this already with maschine, they shouldn't make the same mistake twice.

I also am one of those would not buy it if it goes the add on a tacky keyboard route
whats the use of having a crap board attatched that you have to pay for, adds no quality but takes away stuff, now if they hooked up with fatar for the controller work then that would be an entirely different story, but since they probably won't I rather they added at least 2 more sets of midi i/0, that's 3ins and 3outs total so you could get down with the hardware like its suppose to be and it wouldn't take up too much realestate.
we should all remember, the less time they spend on lowering the quality of maschine the more time they can spend on tightening up what makes maschine dope in the first place and improving what it lacks, the last thing they want to do is become mediocre.

p.s. number 3 should happen way before version 2.0 I'm thinking
    1.8 get the software straight
    1.8 get the software straight
    1.8 get the software straight

im thinking 2.0 may have the following

    better waveform display like traktor
    mp3 support
    audio tracks
    time stretch
    new controller with sliders

yeh i was thinking maybe not lol...

maschine is fine... just fix up the software...

adding a keyboard is just lame, seriously, not even mpcs have keyboards added on. i really doubt NI will do this guys...

mp3 support can be updated in 1.8 / 1.9 ... also who the hell uses mp3s?

time stretch should have been there from day 1. but i know they are holding onto this till 2.0 i just know it will happen...

sliders? sliders for what? is this thing now a portable synth? it seems like we want Maschine to even whipe our own a$$.

    the waveform display is fine...

controller is pro. fix the software thats the only problem...

one thing i would ask for is the usb connector to be better. like sits in the board. because that is just a poor design, but im being a real complainer here... i love you maschine. i wish maschine could be my daddy...

I'm not ready for new controller

I'm not interested in a new controller for version 2.0

The hardware tweeks, such as a keyboard and tilt screens seem like it would make the unit more bulky and less robust. I have a keyboard the Blofeld 49 keys, and a nocturn for added mixing functions. so I actually have more than enough handles into the sound.

I like the idea of it being broken up this way, if one thing goes caput or gets stolen it's cheaper to replace a smaller element and also to have a spare keyboard or fader box around. A broken maschine can replaced now, still expensive, but imagine having to replace a much more expanded controller.

I would be willing to pay say 100$ usd for some added sample content and a few new features, audio playback,
    audio time flex.

I can understand there are advanced users that have had the maschine for years that can see real advantages to getting an expanded controller version, but I wonder if they aren't a minority of users. If the initial price of the standard controller/software package get's bumped up into the + 1000 usd range, in the present economic climate I would think that it might be considerably less attractive to buy for the majority of potential buyers. The fewer units being sold would make benefits for NI of getting a higher price almost zero for a goodly chunk of time as the money will be eaten up by the R+D used in implementing the new hardware/software interfacing.

It's a tricky business this hardware meets software, so In my opinion it would not hurt at all to wait another version number before it happens.. That would make it more likely that NI could implement a fleshed out controller without increasing the cost of the system.. And no maschine keyboard please, I think instead they could make a NI keyboard controller with a handy mount or docking system for the Maschine if you want to get there that way. Coffee mug holder too..

Just to add to what's already been said - there's no need for a new controller. Just fix up and polish the existing software imo (time stretch, side chaining, some kind of bar length display and current playback position in the scene area).

Some of us want a workstation like experience, like a Fantom G or Korg. Maschine with a full keyboard controller would be perfect. Now with Komplete integration it only makes sense. Maschine doesn't have enough knobs and faders to make full use of some of NI's synths, and you require a keyboard to take full advantage of most of the instrument especially the sample based ones with keyswitches. I think NI will have a full range of options. They will have the Mikro, Maschine OG, and the keyboard Maschine. The issue is will there be a loss in translation from controller to controller. If Mega Maschine has more knobs/faders/options then that means that some functionality may not work on older controllers. NI doesn't seem to mind going in this direction as the Mikro while still functional doesn't have the same 1:1 ease of use as its bigger brother. Maybe 2.0 will support different hardware profiles and tailor the software to what's connected. That's even assuming NI is working on a workstation class controller. It's possible but I see a lot of compromise to keep the price down

+1 just say No to a keyboard attached to Maschine

MIDI keyboards provide plenty of sliders and knobs to use with Maschine 's VSTs

The trouble with a keyboard version is that it would dilute the relationship between the buttons, knobs, screens in order to fit around the controller keyboard concept. The reason the controller works so well right now is that everything is focussed in one area... easy to get to and easy to learn. Do you really want the pads in 2 groups of eight?

I wouldn't mind it if a mini-controller with 'Control' button only was made to stick to the left of the transport area though! ;)

Good points, remeber open labs did the workstation thing. It was took expensive though. I just wouldn't be suprised personally. I personally think the Battery drums will be put in Kontakt in the future. Absynth, FM 8, and Massive get put into Reaktor. In the end it's going to be Reaktor, Maschine, Kontakt, and Guitar Rig. Check your mail and take those surveys. Also, I've been trying other stuff. Wait till Presonus put in a step sequencer in Studio One. We shall see...
