It's interesting to see how NI choose to treat the people who pay your wages. Still, nothing lost either way! If Steffen can't accept the truth that's his problem, not mine!

I have always felt NI has treated it User base fairly by giving them product priced in the reach of most users unlike Digidesign and others who price thing way out of the reach of most

they give free upgrades when other would charge for them

they provide good support of their products

    what else do you want

then again there are always those who will never be satisfied and use condescending redirect to give them the illusion of superiority

time to start a new thread this one is done to death

Either you'll have to ease up or you'll need some understanding about running a business.
Let's see it from your side: NI didn't release the Pro-53 in the beginning of august. Okay, maybe they shouldn't have set such a strict release date for it and publish it on their web site, but what do I know? I don't work there.

The Pro-53 full version, was released in early september.
So the free update wasn't, so what? Do you really think you would be able to download the full version without any copy-protection?

If I can see matters from the NI point of view (at least, that's how I think they see it), you make a major update to a product of yours. Naturally, the version you finish first is the version you can sell. That's no trick or no backstabbing, EVERY company wants to earn a living and of course, it goes without saying that NI would chose to finish the full version before the free update.

I am thrilled at the idea of getting the update for free, and if NI spend a week or two, or even a month more in making it, it just shows that they haven't adobted the Microsoft idea of software: If it compiles, ship it. They know so perfectly well that a product have to be bug free before they release it. Tell your clients to wait, I can guarantee it will be worth it.

It's interesting that you mention "...people who pay your wages". If you bought the Pro-52 and is waiting for the Pro-53 update for free, whose wages are you paying?

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Why would NI give away an update for any other reason than a long term commercial one? Whilst on this occasion they are displaying a certain amount of good will, seeing as we will be the future investors in this software, it is only temporary.

Come on, be realistic - this is the real world we are living in. Look upon this as a kind of promotional gift. And a very nice one it will be when it arrives!

Exactly what do you demand from NI? If it ain't finished, it ain't finished. It has nothing to do with how they run their business, Steffen Fuerst said earlier that they ran into some problems which needed to be solved before it could be released, and due to the nature of the problem it was hard to predict a release date.
To me that sounds like an unexpected problem has arrived; I can tell one of our customers that I'd spend 5 hours configuring a new firewall, but if I run into some unexpected problem I will naturally have to sort them out before turing the finished product over. I couldn't seriously give them a half working or even non-working firewall. Nobody would settle with that.

OTOH I can't wait for the update, and the first thing I'll do, is fire up the Pro-52 and play a sequence with no effects and export it as a wave file, then install the Pro-53 and play the same sequence with the same patch and compare the two for differences. Heck I'll even import them both into Wavelab and use a spectrum analyzer. Damn I love being a techno-freak! :)

When I bought Pro-52, I got what I paid for. The program that came on the disc in the box. It didn't say "FREE UPGRADE TO PRO-53!!!" on the box or anything, so getting a free upgrade is just icing on the cake. Thanks NI!

It's amazing that some people have the gall to come here and whine about not getting somthing when they want it, that was never owed to them in the first place. Shame on you people.

I've already got pleanty of crap software laying around here, that I'll probably never use again. The companies that made that software, only cared about getting the MONEY from the NEXT version, and never fixed the version I bought. Those companies also won't be getting any more business from me, and are probably losing potential sales to other people that I've warned about their software. NI doesn't seem to be in the habit of doing that sort of bad business, and I really hope they STAY that way.

Take as long as you need NI. I'm sure there's a lot more people out here that appreciate what you're doing, than there is *whiners* and *complainers* that come here and blabber like spoiled children.

Since you're taking the time nessessary, to have a properly working Pro-53 upgrade for us, it's already more valuable to me, than the 1000's of dollars I spent on that "crap" software I got stuck with.

    Double thanks!

Intersting That would have been posted on another site

    and not here

I think Steffen would have learned by now not to specualate

It is a week later and it is still delayed

    Oh well

Personally i think if the PC version is ready is should be released considering the stress some users have exhibited

    cheers

yes, now that it's out we can stop this nonsense thread, in case you didn't read between the lines my last post was being sarcastic.. I just got so inspired by lxworld here. I already have so many plugins I have yet to use all of them and I feel this pro53 update will bring very little new to my arsenal. It's nice some people can be so enthusiastic, don't get me wrong I love NI products, the point was even pro52 can do most sounds I need it to.. I'll install pro53 this evening.. who knows maybe it will blow my mind with it's superb new oscillator technology :)
