i definitely wouldnt zoom that much in the waveform.

i only find this irritating, grids have always been good enough with the much lesser resolution we had in former versions.

i let the waveform zoomed out enough so i can see the attack of the downbeat the best, this isnt necessarily on the very beginning of its wave.

Just before the attack of the transient, as sometimes I set an autoloop in a beatless portion of a track and I don't want part of a transient in the loop.

Using your last screenshot above just before the line got squiggly, to the left of the existing marker. I wouldn't zoom the display that far in to be honest. I usually beatgrid with DVS and use the record to scratch back and forth across the beginning of the beat, putting the gridmarker just before I can hear the kick.

I would recommend using the metrenome to beat grid. What I do is a place my marker fine tune it by zooming into the waveform, then let the track run, first a 4 beat loop with the metronome on, If it sounds good skip to other areas in the track and hear if the metrenome and track are still sync'ed. This way will guarentee consistency.

I can agree to that. zoom in is sometimes helpfull to make a better hit, but maximum zoom level does very often not realy help to grid perfect.

I zoom in a little, place a grid and check it by ear.

by the way: my grid is on no position as shown in all the screenshots here.
It is mostly where the line moves....become a wave.
hard to explain without a screenshot, but I can´t do one at the moment.

What are these grids for? syncing bpm?

All of mine that i've loaded in so far the grids seem to be OK, do some tracks just need fine tuning?
