I've been fiddling with software on / off for awhile now but never taken things very seriously, and usually end up in the "16 bar loop that sounds neat, but unable to take it past that" stage of production - but I still enjoy playing around.

After debating over "do I buy this or not?" since I heard about it being released, I made the plunge and purchased it the other day. Won't be getting it until later this week though.

This is my first piece of gear/software purchase, and I'd like to take the time to really learn it inside and out.

So, beyond the "read the manual and follow the tutorials", any suggestions / tips / tricks on how to get up and running? not just with the maschine, but with production in general?

the factory projects give you a good overview about maschine's use of effects and how its structured...
i would just load a track by an artist u really like and which skills you'ld like to achieve as a wav into it and try to rebuild the drums and then ...... its a huge fun to play with toy , jus play around, music is a feel thing , if it feels right to you it is right.....
if you put some time and passion into it , everthing is gonna be allright...

I like trying to replicate the drums of a song I like, then it usually turns into a complete different awsome project

    Hi pawcut,

For getting into electronic music with computers and home and project studios, the following site was very useful for me:

    Tweakheadz

    and in particular

Tweak's Guide to the Home and Project Studio.

It is also good to read lots of stuff on the KVR Forum and maybe some electronic or paper magazines like Electronic Musician, Sound on Sound, or Computer Music. The latter seems to cater to beginners and comes with a DVD of royalty-free samples and plugins (some free some demo) with every issue which is why it is expensive.

As for getting started in Maschine, even though I have owned it for several months I have not had any significant time to do anything other than noodle with kits and making some basic beats (still lots of fun) until now - sometimes life requires attention to be focused on other things. I would be interested personally in having a few more organized threads here and/or tutorials/tips/examples from NI for doing things like using Maschine with Kore 2 and/or a DAW (and Kore 2 + DAW). There is quite a bit of knowledge here in this forum and I spent a significant part of my Xmas vacation wading through it and learned a lot.

I somehow missed the Content Providers prior to buying - but pretty excited to see Atom Tm / Senor Coconut on the list.

Atom TM - Liedgut is probably one of my favorite recent releases, and so much stuff on it from sound design to production / sounds / etc leaves me scratching my head thinking "how the ...."

Tomorrow seems so far away right now.
