Which DAWs support Reaktor as a multi-input multi-output VSTi?

i’m looking to a use a single instance of a Reaktor VSTi with 8 inputs and 16 outputs on a single track inside a DAW (for integration with my modular). This works in standalone Reaktor but I haven’t been able to get it to work in Cubase 9 (can’t get inputs into a VSTi). Does anyone know of a way to make this work in Cubase 9? Alternatively, which DAWs support a single Reaktor VSTi on a single track with simultaneous multiple inputs and outputs?

I installed Reaper and have the basics working. In order to have 16 inputs and 16 outputs, should I setup Reaktor as a VSTi or a VST effect? I currently have it setup as a VST effect today with multiple ins and outs (all working fine), but I can't figure out how to route MIDI to a VST effect in Reaper. What is the best way to setup Reaktor for 16 ins and 16 outs with MIDI control in Reaper?

@p1afff How did you get this working in Live? What type of fx insert are you using Reaktor as (VST, VSTi, VST3, VST3i, AU)? How did you get 8 channels of audio input routed to it?

You can get 8 channels of audio input (and output) when you run it as FX in Live.

Weirdly, if you run Reaktor as an instrument in Live, you get many MIDI inputs but only 1 (stereo) channel of audio input; on the other hand if you run as FX you get many audio inputs but only 1 MIDI input. You can't get both multi-MIDI input and multi-audio input at the same time; you have to choose one or the other.

Actually, after submitting what I posted earlier, I did some testing in Ableton Live by placing an instance of every available Reaktor 5 plug-in on different tracks. And while the only VST to allow more than two channels of audio input is the surround version (which allows up to 6), both the FX and the instrument AU version of the plugin allow up to 8 channels of audio input!

This allowed me to finally do something I've been meaning to do for a while: hack the MeltedSounds Whoosh ensemble to route stereo audio from 4 tracks through the 4 channels in the ensemble in real-time, thus eliminating the need to load samples inside the ensemble UI, and enabling me to run various other processing (aside from just granular synthesis) on each of the sounds I'm using to create even crazier, more-badass-sounding randomized whooshes! :D
