Oh your'e right they are, memory failed me. Good info on homepage. (Followed the link to Soundcraft http://www.ureidj.com/ glad too finally see that solution of headphone-connection on a mixer.) I tried AKG for wireless, they were supercomfortable, sounded great though a bit slippery because of the half-open non-fatuiging fit. Sadly you can't find closed type and with good enough batteries for all night.

    Sony MDR v6

    Indestructible.
    Reliable.
    Great sound.
    Replaceable parts.
    Collapsable.

The average life span is about 10 years of daily use. On my 3rd pair. My first pair was one I stole from my father that was 20 years old. My second pair was 10 years old until I jumped on them by accident during a DJ set. The pair I'm using in this cafe is 3 years old.

Get the Beyer Dynamic DT 250's velour pads like the Wikipedia article mentions.

another AKG user here. ....I didn't realise that parts are available. That's great news!

If you're in the uk, you can pick these up quite cheaply here ---> http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR170865

It looks like the price has gone up a bit, ....they were only £60 a few months ago!

Go for the Technics. they are sturdy as hell and sound so good. they are loud and very clear. You can really notice the difference when you have shitty monitors in a club situation as many of the other headphones are too quiet and dull to get good headphone monitoring.

On another note, I looked at some of the wesc ones and the new Nixon ones and they are rubbish! I was sucked in by the way they looked cool until I actually listened to them. Junk!

Yeah, although I havn't tried either of these brands i'm pretty sure thats all they are, a BRAND and nothing more. Just jumping on the wagoon to grab some easy cash.

Just got some Sennheiser HD25-1 and they really are outstanding.

I was down in Florida for the SPACE Anniversary Party, I left my Technics RP-DH 1200 down there. Im soooo mad. I wont be able to get them back till like August. On the other hand i was happy i got to go out and try a new pair of Pioneers. Well Im not spending $390 on the new 2000s, so i spent $170 on the HDJ 1000s. I always thought Pioneers were supposed to be sooo miuch better. Well I dont know about the 2000s but these 1000s are garbage! The Technics are bigger and heavier and bulkier but the Comfort, Sound and Durability CANNOT be matched! Not to mention the detachable cable. The Technics are the best on the martket. What the hell do the 2000s cost so much money for? Do they DJ for you, doubt it?

Thanks for all the input folks. I eventually settled on the Technics which I managed to find online for $90 shipped. They are FANTASTIC! The frequency range is stupendous--I feel like I can hear so much more detail in very full songs. Though I can't really compare in a robust way since I don't own any of the other high-end models, these are awesome.

In regard to comfort, I initially had some pain on my ears when wearing for them for more than an hour or so. I realized I had to wear them farther back than so the pressure wouldn't rest on my antihelix of my earlobes. Even with my big ears, they now fit quite comfortably.

Once I get a little more time with these headphones I might write up a review and post it on my blog. Thanks again folks!
