    hi

I don't know if this thread is acceptable or not. please remove it if not. also, if there's a thread like this out already, let me know please. thanks.

I was wondering, which Guitar Rig 2 preset would you say works best for Kirk Hammets solos in the Metallica song "Fade to Black" from the album Ride the Lightning? I have tried alot of the presets, but I can't seem to find any that sounds like the original.

I'm new to Guitar Rig, so please no flaming :)

    thanks

Could you not look up what Kirk uses in his rig during this period of Metallica using a website like guitargeek and then use the models in Guitar Rig2 to build one.

I thought he used a Mesa Boogie preamp like the Triaxis or the Studio, an Ibanez Tube Screamer to drive it hard and a Dunlop Wah. There is probably a bit more to it. But I reckon he keeps a fairly neat signal chain for his solo work.

    Anyone else got any suggestions?

I know there a tons of Metal;lica fan sites with all his kit from that time listed, so we could probably build something close using Guitar Rig 2.

Let us know how you get on.

I *think* Kirk switches to the neck pickup and actually activates his wah pedal and leaves it toe-down during the solos.
