    Now then:

I am looking at grabbing a laptop for a variety of reasons, one of them being the brand new copy of TSP2 chilling out on my shelf.

Basically what I am asking is the following:

Are there any manufacturers/brands of WINDOWS laptops that should be avoided for TSP2 at all costs?

Are there any manufacturers/brands that work very well with TSP2?

I am currently looking at getting one of the higher end Novatek laptops (Im british and its a UK company whose laptops get 5* reviews), anyone running TSP2 on a Novatek machine?

And before anyone shouts up getting a macbook, here are my reasons for needing windows:
    1. I'm a student and I'm not made of money (Read £650 budget without OS, i can get that for free (legally))
    2. I'm a student and several pieces of software for my course simply will not run on Mac OS.
    3. I'm a gaming addict and 90% of games simply do not run on Mac OS.
    4. And no, I'm not creating a windows partition because that's completely defeating the point of getting a Mac, because all I'll use the mac part for is TSP2.

So mac is out of the window and I'm wanting to know what is best on the Windows side of the fence. I play out now and again but nothing regular at this point (thats something im looking to change though :) )

    Peace,

    Dave

the main thing is to configure the laptop CORRECT. (tutorial and manual to be found here)

    just look at these things:

    - should be Intel (i3 or i5 or i7) instead of AMD as CPU
    - should have 4GB of RAM
    - should NOT have a Nvidia graphics
    - should have a dedicated graphics (best case ATI, no matter what kind of. just prevent shared memory stuff)
    - should have at least 3 USB ports (2.0! and not 3.0)
    - should have at least 15inch (otherwise, my personal taste, to less room)
    - should be a brand and no "no name" stuff to assure that you will get bios updates, chipset drivers and a minimum quality ;)

if you follow this: will work.

I prefer HP. at the moment real good pricings in their web shop, they use ATI dedicated graphics, driver support is perfect...and I can say with mine (i3, 400euro!) TP2 works like a charm.

as you like to go for TSP2 I would advise an i5 processor....just to be sure ;)

should be available (with OS, without not possible) for roundabout 550euro.

Do not get a Toshiba! I've Been trying literally for months to get it right, and I have come up with the conclusion that it's just not going to work.

Cheers guys, I was looking at getting an i5 processor anyway, planning on running with 8gb of ram just to be sure :p

Given I'm planning on using Novation Dicers with my 1210s would i therefore need 4 USB2 ports?

And what is wrong with NVidia built in graphics, do they conflict with Traktor? or is that from a gaming perspective?

I dont have probs with Nvidia.
I think this should not be a nogo.

I would take the biggest i7 u can find ;)
    Future....

I like Lenovo but there some test @ notebookcheck.de for example.
They test systems with DCP Latency checker wich is very good test for audio notebooks.

    SSD would be nice also.

This Nvidia thing seems to be some sort of myth that refuses to die. I have used them all along without any problems
