    I'm just a little curious.

I was recently shown a page by my girlfriend that gave thanks to me for one of my creations and I began to wonder what other things people are doing with them.

So you don't have to go looking in the user library, here is what I've made (so far):

    GreyScale
    Monochrome
    Silver Point
    Einfarbig
    Daredevil/Mr Fear
    GaymeSistem (TM)

If you have any examples of what you've done, I'd love to hear it. Also, if you have any suggestions for improvements, I'm always more than willing to hear them.

Hi! None of them actually, but because I haven't seen them yet. I will do it in nearest future and give short feedback on each, I promise. I do really like posts like these, where people present their works. This will help to promote their works as well as increase Users Library interest. Short description of each one is also welcomed. Could this one be a sticky later? Thanks for sharing!

I didn't want to do this as promotion, I was really just curious. I find it odd that people I don't know are creating things I may possibly never hear with something I made.

But, yeah...check them out if you have time, but don't worry about it.

That's cool 'cause you know I've used your panel elements.

Y'know...I've been working on an update for GreyScale and it would be cool if you could maybe do some panel work as I am at a bit of a loss at the moment. Don't worry about it if you don't have the time/don't want to, I thought it would just be cool.

    Hi SigmaF,
I use gaymesistem(TM), and enjoy many aspects of the others mentioned.
In my ears GM(TM) excels at dense poly-hue compound interference tones. Some such thing.

    Much obliged,
    Ryan D.

postscript: Just noticed this was my 256th post. My 8-bit birthday!

I love Gayme Sistem 64 - my favorite one. I'm going to use it somehow as it is exactly what I've been looking for concerning crushed and cheap sounds. Probably I'm going to make some snaps for this. GreyScale is also one of ensembles I liked from your list and it seemed like you put loads of work into it, but I don't really know where I can apply it in my little studio for creating music, because I'm feeling more free to have control over sequence inside my host program (Logic) instead of doing it in Reaktor. But it looks to me really interesting. Then another good tool you haven't mentioned is Visual Filter - very handsome and creative small work that I saved into my library. Thanks for all works!

this is one of the most familiar thoughts i have had with my little toys. greyscale is fun, not used in a track yet.

I am quite surprised at the love for GaymeStation. I was thinking of updating that one, actually...

Carloskleiber, I would be very interested in seeing what you have done to Silverpoint.

JPaul, nice tune. I will be removing those clicks and pops from GreyScale in the new version (though I kept them in the original intentionally). There is a current 'fix' available here: http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=13381&d=1237483717

I have done quite a few tracks (still awaiting more work) with several of your ensembles, really had some fun.

I will drop you a note when I get some up on my online 'audio journal' ;-)

Since it is so light on CPU I use two of them with a crossfader. I have left one as it is (also to have a reference) and I have removed the sequencer part of the second one and replaced it by another mono sequencer, in order to allow faster edition (I am not so fond of the xy area for length and offset, for instance). I use the result as a rythm instrument with good possibilities of improvisation, with great tuned bass drums and abstract sounds with lots of variation possibilities...

A rather nifty idea. I did something similar with greyscale once.
I checked out your myspace...pretty good stuff. Did I hear this mod on "Skrewell My Love"? Very nice stuff.

This thread gives me an idea: user library should have a possibility to upload mp3's made by users of particular ensemble. By doing so, the user could give a positive feedback to the creator of the ensemble ("hey, man, listen to this, I made this using your instrument, thanks for it!") and other users could listen to creative use of the ensemble, and maybe get convinced to use it.

This also shows rating of userlib uploads in a new light: ensembles, which get high notes, but nobody is uploading any music created with it are... overrated? Impressive but useless?

That's a really nice idea. In fact, I would much rather the User Library was a little more like a forum. Having someone download an ensemble, give a short "I like this" style comment after only a few hours of checking presets, then giving a rating of ten only to never use the thing ever again is actually quite pointless.

There should be more back and fourths...user requests...song links/uploads.

I am impressed with the Reaktor community here and the user library is great...maybe it could be more integrated?

Overrated ensembles in the user library...definitely. But that is the flaw with any open system and there is no way around it.

Out of curiosity, if the rating system is based on user input, what makes something 'overrated'. What criteria supersedes people voting for it or am I missing some mathematical aberration in the system itself that would create such a condition as 'overrated' as in being undeserved? Who is in the position to judge that aspect objectively outside of the voting system.

This is not a argumentative query, just genuinely interested in the use of 'overrated' in a system of users (normally it refers to 'hype' produced by a outside entity such as 'critics' or promoters with the agenda of sales)

Well, this is a whole other debate I would rather not get into. The subject is too subjective and off topic to come to any happy conclusion. A valid point, Mr. C, and I don't disagree with you. Who, indeed, should be in a position of authority to say what deserves merit and what does not.

I do think a rating above (in this case) an ensembles merit can exist in a user based rating system.

In either argument, searching the top 100 or so will produce better results than the lower 100. So, for its purpose, the system works.

    ...but that's just my opinion.

I hear you, as I said just curious if there was some specific situation that was being played out (I actually do not use the rating systems OTHER THAN voting/rating my own favorites (solely to give props to the uploader), never for selecting something to play with, I just try everything for myself :)

I am really glad you liked what you heard. No, actually "skrewell my love" is a heavily modded skrewell against an almost untoutched midi drum pattern from ableton live:eek:
I was going to link you to an example but I realise it is not good enough. Give me a few days:p
