Hello, I was wondering, I did a Kontakt Library update or something like this (i think a sounds update)... and some files went to my external firewire drive like they were supposed to - but some samples installed on the system drive. Why is this?

Why is there the following directory on my C drive?

    D:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Shared Content\Sounds\Kontakt4

inside which is folders like - band, choir, orchestral, synth, urban beats, vbintage and world...

why did these not go to my firewire drive? My firewire drive was up and running during the sounds update.

this is the third forum i have submittied with an absolute grizzly experience in the organization of NI content (also see my Kore thread and Absynth thread). No other software manufacturer I have ever experienced has such organizational absurdities created on computers.

If I were you I would stop trying to control NI files as they go where they want to and if some are missing bad things happen.

    My problem is similar

Hi have all the Kontakt 4 samples on a separate internal drive (works fine) and the Kontakt 4.2.2 installer won't allow me to select that drive as the Library update install destination.

    Mac Pro 5,1
    Quad core 2.8Ghz
    13 GB memory
    OSX 10.6.6

    Hi,

not exactly the same but similar: I had my Library installed on an external driver (G) and later on moved it to the internal drive. All the old links in database were deleted so there are only librariy links to drive C and D.

Nevertheless I now have the problem that the latest library update 1.0.4 stops with the following error message:

    "Invalid Drive: G:/"

    Latest software version 4.2.2 installed.

    regards, humphrey

I would think that there is still a reference to the G;\ drive either in the Registry or, perhaps, in the Install log files.

    Might be worth checking.

This is a joke. When I now run the newer Kontakt Factory Content installer 1.0.4 it says:

No Library found under the registered installation path. Either move the library back to its original location or re-install the library before running this update

But I already have the proper library on my external Firewire drive - exactly where it is supposed to be labeled as Drive H as it always was properly so.

Is tech support even reading these threads?

Did you, by any chance, initially install the content into another location?

Installing the Content v1.0.4 to Drive K:\ worked OK here. But that was the drive I used when i installed the original Kontakt 4 Library.

If on Windows, I suggest checking the Registry (the error message says "the registered installation path"

just install it all on 1 location on a fixed drive. that will solve all problems

The installer is definitely messed up. I've got a windows laptop and an imac and neither system experienced a successful Kontakt update. I don't do custom installations of my libraries either...wherever the default location is where the library is.

    Fix this please.

    +1

Absolutely the same here. I just finished building a new workstation and set up a RAID 10 to host all my music gear. Despite the fact that you're asked to select an install path, the various Komplete7 pieces always install some of their samples on the system drive. Very annoying indeed. This defeated the purpose of my RAID array.

I actually installed it the first time, noticed this, and started moving things manually, thinking that I was going to be able to reconfigure each piece from within, but this proved a nightmare. Did work in some cases, did not go well in others. I forget exactly which/what. Make things worse, forgot to run the updates first... when I did, then it was total chaos.

Decided to uninstall everything and spend another evening reinstalling everything. A real waste of time and energy. But at least things seem to be working now.

I contacted US customer service, was told the installers have hard-coded default paths, and I should always select the default. I did not bother responding... does not make sense to me. ONLY piece of software I have that does not install itself where you want it to be.

Hope NI got somebody to look at QA across the board and fix such a basic bug.

if that is truly the case, then that is a serious issue that needs to be resolved.

This is what I've posted in my thread, that nobody's bothered to answer. I had the same folder system as the OP after the last update. And my Kontakt 2 & 3 libraries are just simply gone.
    I'm not happy.

No, this is just the user forums. I would start a support ticket or call them.

I did contact Customer Service via email and got the above response, which did not make sense at all to me.

For some reason, the mod's are not posting my new posts... :S

Anyway I noticed that Service Center says there is a library update available. I thought 1.0.4 was the latest but Service center says another one is. So when I download it, the file is still 1.0.4 is NI aware of this?
