How long time does it take?

How have you your presets arranged/ added? The more complicted your preset Database is, the more time it might take to load the application.
How many presets have you added to the factory presets? The more presets the slower load time.

Changing presets on a loaded application should be done in an instant/ fast. But perhaps it will go slower if you have added loads and loads of presets. Changing between file and browser view will be slower then.

How fast is it, if you only have the factory presets added?

When did it become slow for you?

"Why" is'nt that simple a question to answer.

    Hey!

So I have added a lot of preset banks to my database in massive...

it's definitely not instant here are my recordings...

    4 second to switch browser

13 seconds to click on poly lead

4 seconds to switch to sounds/browser

8 seconds to click out of a category to reset

this happens in standalone or in ableton

As said, then if you have added many presets, then you can exspect a slowdown. (I believe i a long time ago have read, that some experienced extreamly slow behavior and even total freeze caused by a too big and perhaps too complexe preset database.)
But at a point quite a while ago i did notice things for some unknown slowed down. Perhaps that's what EvilDragon note.

For testing you could try to remove preset files from the paths Massive read. That way you could see if and how much that have to do with the slowdown.

If it's not about a big and complex database, then you perhaps can get a better answer and help, if you contact NI support.
If you find a good answer, then please report back so other users can use the information.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Native Instruments Support.

Please find the steps below to troubleshoot your current issue:

    1. Open Massive, in stand-alone mode
    2. Go to File>Options>Database
    3. At bottom of Database options, you will see a drop-down with a label above it called 'Database Hit-Count Display'. Click on the arrow for that drop-down, and change the option to 'None'.

If this does not resolve your issue, please let me know so that I may further assist in troubleshooting.
    Best regards,
    James @ NI
