Why does "Scratch Mode" stop playback?

    I was trying "Scratch Mode" on my VCI-100 and switched on the "Scratch On" and it stopped the playback. I then scratched a little with the platter and the track played on, but paused and then played on..It was not a very real feel. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
