    yup
But SL1 only needed USB1 and could run on a 1.4 ghz single core early pentium 4 cpu with less than 384mb sd ram.
Traktor Audio 8 needed USB2 and more pc power to run sophisticated :)

I guess it's good you can run it on that machine but, for Pete's sake upgrade your laptop. That thing is third world already. Sally Struthers should be making commercials about it.

That was around 2006/2007 and the desktoppc was from 2000, I think

my FS2 was running on a single core with 256mb ram - i later upgraded to 512mb ram. :D

when TS came out, usb1 was really outdated already. and supports what i said earlier: NI put their view to the future of DJing. would've made NO sense to release an usb1 device at that time. btw, the sound of the sl1 compared to the audio 8 is audibly worse.

... and fast forward nearly 10 years and the Audio 8 is still an amazing soundcard that is compatible with the latest version of TSP.
The SL1 is not even compatible with Serato DJ.

Shots fired! Hahaha. My move to Traktor was a direct cause of Serato choosing not add compatibility for my $1500.00 57SL in hopes that I would buy a Sixty-Two for another $2000.00. I spent $1200.00 on two Kontrol Z2's. Some of the best money I've ever spent.

I think it is reliability. Got here because I am considering the switch....I am very worried about stability with Traktor. Honestly I like the software a lot, and hate the idea of moving...

2.8.1 is a good version compared with 2.7.x, but still cant be trusted on for live performances, hopefully NI can concentrate on delivering a reliable version soon.

    Best, M

Yeah, we all decorate our homes this way.. SMH. I can surely speak for a number of people on this forum in saying, we're sick of the way you carry yourself around here. Any skill or knowledge you may have as a DJ is completely overshadowed by your ignorant, off-topic, childish and biased BS. Quit being a clown and contribute something useful to this community.

i started with traktor a few years ago (still strictly bedroom) with a vci400 and then picked up a novation twitch. I like all the options and fx that traktor offers but i prefer itch with the NS7. i might use traktor more if i had jumped into dvs. my next experiment is to set up a rane 57 with my audio 2 to use traktor, otherwise i am stuck with Scratch live.

i like the simplicity of serato but i dont use serato dj at the moment. i also like the possibilities of traktor with remix decks and fx.

meh, i wont contribute nothing, you can all spend £/$10,000 on crap old macbooks and ancient audio interfaces that will all be out of date next year

i got home and i ended setting up a scratch audio 6 to the rane 57 and used an X1 mk2. worked great. now just to figure out how to physically hold down the shift button to use the touchstrip to scratch. should be easy with the X1 on a kontrol stand. pumped.

I think Serato has been very aggressive in terms of their updates. they have released alot important updates in the last few years and traktor has just done remix decks.

Im from South Africa and most peepz here also use Serato and Virtual DJ because the majority of controllers come bundled with these software. I personally love traktor and cant see myself using serato

Serato also has alot of Serato dedicated controllers from Pioneer and Numark.

serato and vdj both suck, they both look as bad as one another, and both have spinning things on screen which get on your nerves like motorized jog wheels

its all like, i dont have a needle, i dont need to know where a needle might have been if i had a needle, i can do a rewind for any number of bars by ear and knowing the sensitivity you have on the jog wheel

I never hear anyone say anything about apple's DJay software by algoriddim. I've used it and I think it great. From what I've seen, it's pretty comparable to Serrato as far as features are concerned but for some reason, it's gets no recognition. Any thoughts, DJs?

Serato maintains a large market share in the U.S. because of the very early reputation Final Scratch had for being unstable. Most of the Dj's I knew in the 1999-2010 realm either started using Serato because they heard FS was unstable, or they used Serato because it ran smoothly on even the cheapest of laptops... Think about the cost of an Acer at best buy vs a Macbook Pro, even back then, and the value is clear.

They took off because of their reliability, and they've maintained traction because of their reputation for affordable stability. Sure, it's a much simpler application. I've used Traktor for all but 7 months since the first version of Final Scratch hit the market, but many of my friends are die-hard Serato. I purchased Serato when they announced the Bridge, but that proved to be an epic flop, so I came back.

Most of my buddies are into house and techno, and when I show them my S8 with a crazy set of fun features to mangle audio live they are impressed... But they aren't going to change their setups now. Of course my pals who mix hip-hop prefer Serato as well, because they often don't care about my remix decks, stem files, or fx chains. They want super responsive scratching, and they get it.

Apparently the clubs in KC, STL, Chicago, Atlanta, and a slew of other midwestern cities are pre-loaded with Serato gear as well. Bringing in Traktor requires a setup change, so very few want to deal with that. When I play out these days, my S8 takes up a TON of space.

(strictly my opinion, and I don't wish to get into an argument with anyone here please)

PLUS - most of the DJ's I know hardly have the time/headspace to fiddle with all of the crazy crap Traktor allows us to do anyways - so the extra stuff is lost on them...

And to be honest, if NI doesn't integrate a Maschine Deck into traktor soon, and open up my s8 channels internally to play with other sound sources, things like the new Dj-808 will pull folks like myself over.
