Why is Kore so unstable with some Third Party PlugIns?

In my experience Kore 2 crashes with several third-party plugins when switching between them inside Kore. The plugins that crash for me are Arturia Minimoog and Moog Modular, Novation V-Station and Bass Station and reFX Nexus and quadraSID.
This happens randomly but often when switching from one plugin to another (i.e. when switching Kore sounds while browsing through them).

And if Kore crashes then it really hangs up! The Kore task will stay resistant in memory and can't be killed with the task manager. After ~5 minutes the crashed task will finally remove itself from memory but until then you can't restart Kore properly. Note that this is on Windows Vista 32bit. It's obvious that the task hangs in memory because of the Kore hardware driver.
Same goes for when running Kore in a host application. I use Live 7 and if Kore crashes inside Live it takes the whole host down with it and Live's task will stay resistant in memory for around 5 minutes. So that means that Kore (or Live) can't be re-started again until the crashed task finally removed itself from memory. This alone is a huge creativity killer!

Anytime when Kore crashed, later in the day when it's long gone and you're trying to shutdown your PC, it will shut-down but not power off the machine. This ALWAYS happens when Kore crashed at some time during the day. Whenever Kore crashed I know already that my PC will not power off correctly when I shut it down later.

But back to the PlugIn Crashing ... it would be helpful if somebody else could confirm these. It's obvious that this happens with Arturia, Novation and reFX plugIns but there might be others that I don't know of.
It would also be great if NI could investigate this problem and does some more testing with said plugins. Maybe they could add some sort of fail-safe protection against crashing plugins so that Kore can catch up the crashed plugin but doesn't hang up completely?

I haven't seen any crashes with Arturia plugins (but Minimoog's one of the two I don't own). I don't have any of the other plugins you're talking about.

If Kore crashes like that, restart it after you get the original crash message and close it normally. Works here...

This has happened to me a few times with Arturia Analog Factory 2.0.

And, as stated several times in other posts, IK Multimedia Sonik Synth 2.1.

It is primarily these problems that have made me avoid using Kore 2 lately. I am an early Kore adopter, plus I have Komplete 3, 4, and 5.

Kore's selling point to me was as a host for all plugins, including 3rd party.

Alas, I have some projects coming up that I need to rewrite a bunch of sounds and performances to avoid all my now-useless plugins, as Kore 2 was my main investment as a DAW.

I noticed you used the term "DAW" at the end of your message. Is Kore considered a DAW? I guess maybe if you use it with live performances?

Just curious. I'm new to all this and I bought Kore 2 and Komplete 5 and couldn't figure out how to record anything until I purchased Pro Tools. Which brings me to a new thread... :)

For me it's my DAW - I don't use my laptop for sequencing or tracking. Kore is how I host plugins for live playback and home use. I use it as an instrument I bring to other people's studios.

All the more reason for me to be disappointed in these issues, since I rely on it 100% - really the reason I invested in a music-only laptop, since I was never interested in sequencing.

More crashes for me in the last day. I recently got Scarbee's Keyboard Gold Bundle, which comes with two effects plugins - Keyboard FX and C Filter. They seemed to work in Kore 2 at first, but now they're crashing Kore.

This may or may not be caused by the fact that I updated Windows XP to Service Pack 3, but I barely used the Scarbee stuff in SP2 before I updated, so I'm not sure.

NI Service Team just got my crashlogs, but I've sent them before and not heard back.

So my list of 3rd Party plugins that crash Kore 2 are:
IK Multimedia Sonik Synth 2.1 (works fine in Kore 1)
Scarbee Vintage Keyboard FX & C Filter
Ultimate SoundBank UVI Soundcard (works fine in Kore 1)
Arturia Analog Factory 2.0 (occasional crashes)

Well it just happened again. This time with Korg Polysix. I browse for a patch bank inside the Polysix but decide to press cancel and *Schwupp* ... Crashed! Before I was auto-importing the Default presets from that instrument into Kore, nothing else!

The tip with starting a second Kore instance right after the first one crashed doesn't work for me either. It then tells me that the Database will be read-only and the crashed Kore task still can't be killed.

Here we go again! This time Oatmeal crashed Kore! I was skipping through Oatmeal patches for about an hour or so, always playing notes on the keyboard and during one patch change in Oatmeal ... BAZOONG ... Kore+Oatmeal hanging! Still resistant in RAM while I write this. NI needs to do something about this!
