why is my new macbook 2 times slower than my old dell

Not to start a religius pissing contest ;-)

So i got a 2.4GHz MacBook unibody and a 3year old 2GHz Dell

seems Space Drone uses way more CPU on my mac than on my pc
say latency 8ms sample rate 44.1KHz spacedrone patch 5 (polarwind)
on my dell: 17.5% on my mac 27%...

Leopard doesnt have a cpu speed thingy in the energy savings pannel

could that explain it?

i'm pretty clueless. maybe i should bootcamp it ;-)

Anywayz, if somebody has some advice tweek explanation on what i'm dealing with that would be apreciated !

i presume you have R 5.1.5 and have optimised your Macbook as suggested by NI?

yep exept that leopard does not have a processor performance tab in the energy saver pannel.

The unfortunate fact- MacBooks speedstep, and OSX doesn't allow you to shut it off via the OS unless you use a third party app to do so.

The solution? QuietMBP. However, your operating temps are going to raise by 10 degrees C or more...

about that QuietMBP, what i read is it is for whiney cpu blowers in macbook pros.
I dont have a pro. and i just need access to the processor speed

Quiet MBP did some of the trick ;-)

It whent down to 21% from 27%

this is still 0.8 times slower than the dell, where it should have been 1.2 times haster sinds the mac has a 2.4GHz CPU while the Dell has only a 2GHz.

So this still makes the Mac 0.66 times slower than the Dell... witch is better than the 0.54 times it is without Quiet MBP...

OOwell hehe, but its so mutch better ;-)

Just for kicks i did the bootcamp with windows XP

so here spacedrone uses 15% CPU in reaktor where on Leopard it uses 27%

soooo XP is 2 times faster than leopard

just wanted to share ;-)
