Why not Camelot Wheel?

Hello,

I just got my brand new S5 and I really love the hardware, but heres one thing that bugs my mind.

I haven't thought about it before (on my S2 and S4), because I use Mixed In Keys to calculate the key of tracks, but since the S5 displays the key I'm very frustrated that I can't choose Camelot Wheel in the selection of displaying Musical Key in the Analyze Options tab. I can select "Musical", "Musical (all sharps)" and "Open Key". Not Camelot. Darn! I really don't want to switch key system after 4 years and I don't like keeping 2 systems in my mind when entertaining the dancing feets.

Really hope they sort this out ASAP or if you guys have any suggestions for me

 

nope no solution yet...let MIK write the key in front or after of the artist name or song, it will show up in the screen of the s5 if its not to long...

 

I think i have found a solution for your problem. If you have Skype just tell me your nick, then i can describe how I fixed this problem for me

 

why not here ? i am curious to, got the d2 instead of the s5 butt would lover to see your solution ...

 

Okay let me tell you how I came to the same problem. About 6 months ago I decided to buy a Traktor S4 to teach myself a bit of mixing. Beside practical training I watched a lot of videos and one day I also came to harmonic mixing and Camelot Key System. Then I recognized Traktor only writes the keys in its own format, as you told Musical and Open Key. Because I am a student i had not enough money to spend it on Mixed in Key Software, so I looked for a cheap substitution.

I found some little tool where you have to put 2 small files into your C:/Documents/NativeInstruments Folder where also the collection.nml file is in ( you should backup this file ). Then you have to start the little application and even with a big playlist it will add the Camelot Keys to all of your tracks. What i like is that the Traktor Keys are still under "Key" to find and the Camelot Keys are directed in the "Key Text" section.

That would be it. Pretty easy work to do and no money you have to spend. So it was perfect for me. I hope you can understand my description, I am from Germany and my English sometimes may suck Looking forward to your replies!

 

The problem is that the S8, s5 and the D2 only have limited space in the on board screens and will only show a few things, sadly the colum key text is not one of them, there for the camelot key is still not visible in the screens on the S8,S5 and D2, you still have to look at your computer screen for that info, Not a huge problem but i like to close the lid of my laptop and mix with the d2's instead of looking on my laptop all the time,

 

Ah okay, I didn't knew that this is different on S5 and S8.
