Actually the way effectrix works is much simpler and would be perfect for Maschine. The pattern selector is an automatable parameter. No new buttons or modes at all. Simply allow the pattern selection for each group to be a single automatable parameter. Nothing changes at all, except that patterns can be recorded (and triggered) by host automation. Not midi. So it works while using Maschine in it's own mode (not as midi controller)

This requires only 8 parameters to be exposed to a DAW. One for each pattern. Since patterns are mutually exclusive, it just requires a parameter with values 1-16. No different than tweaking a macro and having it captured by a DAW. You change a pattern and the value of 1-16 is captured by the DAW. It would be infinitely better integration.

Of course they still need far more automatable parameters to claim to be "integrated" with DAWs. All volumes, mutes and main parameters (filters, compressor etc.) should be automatable directly. Not just through a few macros.

Just wanted to bump this thread... (and suggest that mutes/solos of groups should be automatable, too... as is commonplace in hip-hop).... or simply, an AUTOMATION TRACK of sorts....... this is STILL a HUGE request of mine.

    This is really needed.

At the very least patterns should be controllable like the scenes either program change on different channels for each group of patterns or simple notes to trigger the pattern changes and/or be recorded by external sequencer.

If this means a performance capture mode, then i'm all for it. Recording fixed length patterns and creating scenes is only the begining of the process. The real fun takes place as you start experiment with those basic building blocks, yet there is presently no mode in maschine to record these gestures/experiments as they happen.

'There needs to be another level of abstraction, which does't require you to dupicate scenes or patterns, but instead just jam with the maschine knowing what you do is being recorded as control level data.

while we're at it, a performance capture mode, should not need you to set contraints on that performance. So if i am scene jumping, that information should be captured so i can repeat that
sequence later, or select from that sequence data that can be 'rendered' into a block of useful midi notes.

Just got through playing with maschine, really funky, yet the real shame was knowing what i did can't be repeated back.

Two clever things that Geist has; retro record and scenes which can be recorded into song mode. That's the kinda sequencing workflow that maschine needs. :)

    +1 pattern changes by midi!

really, ability to record all live performance gestures via midi is essential..

i am loving using maschine as a live performance instrument, and it is opening up all sorts of writing options. but trying to record that live performance (except as a combined audio track) is SOOOO frustrating!

    xo

Got my Maschine yesterday and was alittle bummed that I could not record pattern changes.

If this feature would mess up the scene function, maybe if you could record pattern changes that would merge into a new combined pattern of those you switched between?

+1 Maschine is amazing, this is the one big omission I can see after playing with it for a day, they got to fix this right ?

Switching scenes is no live music !

Using Maschine feels too much like editing than performing music. It should develop from a studio tool more into a musical instrument.

the list as always doesn't mention everything - it's been asked for many times so hold your breath - it may happen.

I have a question regarding this problem, at least I have a vague feeling this could be the appropriate thread for this matter — I am new to Maschine, so incase I am totally mistaken, please excuse my blindness.

When first using Maschine within Ableton I encountered the issue, that patterns cannot be triggered from scratch at any point, they seem to always be running in a legato-mode and I can't seem to find a way of triggering them directly as for them to start from the beginning of their loop. What I am talking about is, say, a simple loop of four bars corresponding to a loop in ableton in such a way that bar 3 in maschine corresponds to bar 3 of the clip in ableton and if one of them got shifted the result is disharmonic. a change in scale for instance on bar 3 only would needs its corresponding scale in the other running system. now in Ableton one can restart clips at any time and rate, but when maschine is loaded into ableton, its "restart" button is deactivated and all scenes/patterns run according to the time when they first got triggered and when switching between them they playback in legato, regardless of what happens in ableton. consequently, one can never spontaneously switch to new patterns because one would have to wait for the beginning of the scene before doing so.
    so am I missing something?
and is this related to this topic? this would then mean that there will be no solution to this all to quickly, at least I would know that I would have to find a workaround. Incase it is not, then perhaps there is a way of accessing the desired function... (?)
    help will be appreciated!
    thank you

    ---
also: how can I stop Maschine from running? the beats within Maschine will continue playing, unless I stop playback in Ableton... so is my onl option to switch to a blank scene/pattern within maschine? or can I actually stop the patterns/scenes while Ableton continues running? the latter option could perhaps semi-solve my initial issue.
    thanks in advance!
(please redirect me, if this is again the wrong thread for this)

NI , please make pattern changes automatable .... It would be even sweeter if you the changes would snap to grid.... put the competition to sleep with this feature... the pattern grid should be an instrument in itself just not for live performances. thank you
