Yes, if buying for the loopback purpose only its overkill, it allows for much more. A lot of people don't "buy" this kind of software, not that I endorse that whatsoever.

It's worth the $$$ if you're using all the features LoopBack offers, but something like this could easily be purchased for the money and already don't have an interface. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UR12... just a heads up, I don't endorse this product. Personally 'm on the Komplete Audio 6.

I think the point of the inbuild soundcard is that, if u are serious and/or have the funds - you can use a dedicated soundcard.. and for new people, hey this is a good start - and selling point cause u can plug in some speakers and away u go saving u a few hundy for a low end decent sound card

It is a dedicated soundcard! Clearly not dedicated enough though if loopback isn't happening.

Tbf it's a pretty good priced box considering its contents, come on.

A great controller and a big bunch of great software for 450 with a Sound card built in..... Yes I know some will question my choice of words here :D but hey that's how I see it

Loop back feature while nice is easily gotten around by a phone or some other device, I'm not everybody and certainly don't expect everybody to agree but the last thing I want while I'm creating is a web page open in the background, if I feel the need to sample from YT or anywhere (and I do sample everything, all the time lol) I'll just open an iPad or iPhone and plug in. I wouldn't call something a POS just because it doesn't do loop back.

Imho if people are reverting back to ASIO4ALL, and NI employees are endorsing this.. it's a POS :)

    Over and out :)

Wow Skins you still haven't got a clue!

Er the video is NOTHING to do with loopback, it's about recording live samples..You should take heed though, it might save you a lot of money creating your own samples.

About time people got themselves out of the "stoneage" and bought a proper standalone sampler

I was sampling old public information films from youtube yesterday, chopped and saved to a kit in seconds. One was about a women in the workplace lol. It had a crazy argument between a husband and wife about why she should be allowed to work, but like all these ancient films they spoke too fast...so I stretched it to fit, in real time. ;)

Loopback is a very important feature IMO. It should be supported ESPECIALLY with Maschine

just create an aggregate audio device with any other usb audio device, or even the built in audio, and route the audio using patch cables. if you have a mixer, you and just leave it permanent as your input line and then switch to the source.

Agreed, I would never buy a sound card without loopback unless it had great (<8ms) latency performance with reasonable buffers.

The fact that there is no loopback or better latency is a deterrent for me using MK3 to track bass live. On my desk I'll just use my better sound card but away from my desk using more peripherals to bypass the issue isn't a qualified solution.

That said, I'm still very happy with my MK3!

True if you are on windows... On OSX any soundcard can have loopback.

For free? Soundflower for directly having loopback inside applications, to record loopback to audio there's Piezo (free version gives 10mins of recording)
A pro paid solution would be LoopBack (it's also a virtual audio cable between apps, very easy and useful but expensive)

What I did in the meantime is connect an aux Y-cable cable from iPad to Maschine inputs. You can do the same with a laptop or desktop if it has a headphone port.

This seems to be the best solutution and it's relatively easy to implimented with no possibility of audio hum caused by actual cables - virtual cable

Yikes, I think I got confused with loopback vs. live or low latency monitoring. I think loopback as part of Maschine would be great but really what I want is any low or zero latency monitoring solution while recording external instruments live. My primary concern is percussive bass & guitar takes. It just doesn't sound right to me when played back at >8ms delay. Feels like I am standing down the hall from a bass amp.

It's a bummer but not the end of the world though.

I may check out Piezo if I ever need loopback. Thanks again D-One!
