Will this work with Windows 8?

Will the Kontrol F1 work with Window's 8? I'm looking to purchase my first hardware for Traktor and am apprehensive if it will work with my OS. I contacted support and they said "Official Windows 8 compatibility will be announced in the near future." But that doesn't EXACTLY answer my question...does it work right now?

Does anyone use Windows 8 any controllers?

Traktor itself doesn't fully support Windows 8 as far as I know; the F1 itself shouldn't have any specific incompatibility though as it's just a simple controller.

Windows 8 and Windows 7 have the same core code. They are essentially the same operating system. The difference is that Windows 8 adds the modern interface. It's like adding an ipad on top of Windows 7. Any controller working on Windows 7 should work on Windows 8 granted you make some configuration changes discussed in several threads. Search under Windows 8 and Optimisation tips.

I use a Denon DN-MC3000 controller as a secondary system. I created a separate user account on my laptop so I can configure settings specific to the controller and not mess with my default.

    1. I created a second account on my laptop, optimized Windows under that profile to be the same as my default profile.

    2. I ran the ASIO driver install as an unsigned driver to avoid issues.

    http://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-install-an-un-signed-3rd-party-driver-in-windows-8/

    3. I configured Traktor so the root directory points to the second account.

see page 171 of the user manual

    4. I installed the standard tsi file from Denon.

    Everything works for me.

I'm using windows 8 just fine. The F1 itself works over usb and has no soundcard so really should not be an issue on anything. Its controllers with a soundcard where problems can arise.

But to tell you go ahead and buy the f1 and install it on your computer... There are optimizations you will need to do on any windows computer to get it going. And will be different depending on what that computer has for memory and installed and running processes. So your question leads more into the software area of the forum. Not hardware (F1).

I have a sony vaio windows 8 as my signature shows.
I turn wifi bluetooth off and antivirus off. I use Advanced System Care software to clean and fix registry and use the boost feature in this software also.
Keeping the system clean and maintained is very very important.
I also kill processes to help free memory in the task manager.
I use a usb 3.0 external hardrive for music (fast loading!)
I use a powered usb hub for extra devices.

The only real issue I have with windows 8 is that Traktor does not actually close. It stays running and I have to kill the app in the task manager. Not a real big deal and read this will be fixed soon.
I have other issues but they are windows 8 issues not Traktor or audio. And hopefully will be updated soon. Stooopid tiles screen!

Hope this gives you an idea of what to expect.
I have posted a lot of my experience with the f1 just click my name and look at all posts to get an idea of the issues you may face.

Windows 8 makes some significant changes to USB 3.0 functionality, hopefully for the better.
I get bluescreens when plugging my Audio 2 into a 3.0 port on Windows 7, but not in Windows 8.

People have widely reported that the Traktor application does not close down correctly in Windows 8, and there are other applications I've used that work in Win 7 but are incompatible with Win 8 and are not expected to be fixed.
These differences mean that you can't just say "Windows 8 is essentially the same operating system".

If Traktor is running fine on your system then I would expect the F1 to work fine too.

I have a HP Core 1.3 Windows 8 and Im running Traktor Pro just fine. I have a S2 and a F1 and have used both solo without issues. I even run the F1 through the computer soundcard and its working nicely. I havent done anything to the computer.
