Windows 7 allows users to change the physical location of their Documents folder.

I note that NI have a directory under My Documents and inside of that directory are folders for my Komplete 8 applications (Absynth, Battery, FM8 etc).

Does the NI software use the My Documents link/shortcut to access these directories or is it hard coded to C:\Users\Username\My Documents? I don't see any relevant entries in the registry for these directories.

If NI use the link/shortcut I should be ok to move the physical location of the Documents folder. Has anyone tried this?

    Thanks.

Not much help, but I moved my "My Documents" folder before installing things and, after installation, the NI folder is now at
    F:\DarkStar\Documents\Native Instruments

So there has got to be a pointer somewhere.

Ok thanks, sounds promising at least.
I'll give it a whirl anyway and see what happens.

For the sake of anyone reading this in the future I gave it a go, changed the location of My Documents (obviously letting Windows move the files therein too) and, thus far at least, all is working fine. :D

I have Komplete installing right now, and just as with every other NI installation I've done in the past year, it's almost entirely ignoring the fact that I change the installation location to another drive and putting it all into C:/Program Files/Common Files/Native Instruments.
I do not have the space for all of this on my OS drive. Once again I'll have to wait for it to finish and move it all where I want it.
Am I missing something in the installation process? Why even bother giving the choice to change locations at all?
