I am looking into getting an S2.

I am wondering if the latest version of Traktor will work with Windows XP?

    Thanks

it depends... the current release version supports XP, but the very next version (traktor 2.5) will NOT support XP and vista anymore (see product page)!

why won't it support vista ? would be stupid if we had to upgrade to windows 7 just for the update.

because it's not supported anymore. this decision was made NI-wide, not only for traktor.
btw, surveys showed that most users are already using win7.

vista has always been sth that has not been recommended for realtime audio applications.

really ? when i have not had any issues with windows vista at all. Vista is not as old as xp and should not be unsupported.

How long will windows 7 be supported until we are forced to use widows 8 ?

see what I am getting at ?

when we upgraded to traktor pro 2, windows xp and vista were supported, now halfway down the line of updates(not upgrades) some of us are forced to buy windows 7 which is not vary fair is it ? which makes 2.5 not really a free update any more for some of us.

might have worked for you, common sense is different (not only for NI, btw.)

quite some time. you'll want another computer then anyways.

yes. you're trying to start a fight where there's nothing to fight about. an absolute minority of NI users are affected. me being one of them, btw.

I understand it. From a programming point of view it's a lot easier to focus on just a few OS releases instead of worrying about issues across SP's on different OS releases on multiple OSes.

This is cost efficient for NI and keeps the consumer cost down.

yup, and if you take in account that users of DJ or other music software tend to have better, younger machines, the amount of win7 users is for sure way bigger than in the average figures of the article.

as said before, the results of NIs survey are more than unambigously.

y, most pc music software users is probaly using win 7 today maybe.
But if almost 40% of any OS user is still xp worldwide, it is damn many million internet users out of security in about 2 years : china, india, russia, latin america etc. I doubt that all will opgrade to win 7/8 within 2 years if thats is the case we should all put our money into microsoft:D
scary, funny and sad at the same time
I just hope that maybe some one will make a xp 2.0 some day
remember how slow xp was on pcs in the beginning 10-12 years ago compared to a pc of today
bootup 15-20sec/shutdown time 5sec, browsing in explore handling files is fast
when touching the keyboard pc always response at once:D
