before i consider installing windows xp sp2, i want to make sure reaktor is fully compatible with it.

native instruments, if you're listening, can you guarantee that reaktor (latest version) will run fine with sp2?

users, is anyone running reaktor and sp2? problems?

    thanks,

    rick

I installed XP SP2 near the end of August. I generally have a talent to make any program whatsoever malfunction (often seriously) regardless of operating system or update. That being said, I have always had odd things happen every now and then in Reaktor (e.g., temporarily no sound that is resolved by restarting the program, occasional graphics peculiarities). I installed the service pack just a couple of days before the 4.1.3 update. I must say that I cannot attribute any Reaktor problems to XP SP2 any more than to Reaktor or 4.1.3. At the moment, I am more of a casual user than programmer of Reaktor. With the little programming I've done lately, I haven't noticed anything terribly awry.

With respect to my computer in general, I am convinced that SP2 was a definite improvement. I've already noticed quite a few somewhat subtle and as far as I can tell, unadvertised enhancements. Some of the new security features were annoying at first, but I got used to and learned to love them. I think you can turn most or all of them off. With respect to my second sentence above, before SP2, I was able to cause XP to lock up on average approximately once or twice a day (almost always non-Reaktor related). After SP2, it is now more like once every week or two. Microsoft seems to have improved XP's stability, at least as far as my setup was concerned.

In summary, I personally (so far) have no regrets installing XP SP2. As they say, your mileage may vary. I hope my comments help.

P.S. When I installed SP2, Microsoft's site claimed it was about 75 Meg. It really was about 95 Meg. Very fun when you're using dial-up.

No WinXP SP2 problems here either

I had an issue with Propellerheads Reason and SP2, which was resolved by an uninstallation/reinstallation of the software, but no problems with Reaktor 4. ("Me too" messages suck, I know, but you asked.)

    problems yes

I know of people that have complained of much slower performance on their computers after installing xp sp2. As well as crashing with audio software.

    Re: problems yes

that's because of sp2's internal firewall. turn it off and download a freeware firewall instead, I don't think that xp's internal firewall is reliable...

I even had no problems with Reaktor on SP2 Beta, so don't worry about the final release, just install it and have a cup of coffee and some cigarettes what I'm just going to do.
