It's pretty self-explanatory. We ought to be able to choose between varying bit depths for the recorder box. It's still at 16 bits. It'd also be nice if we could predetermine the recording length or loop length or something of that nature. Perhaps one of the recorder modules would be suited for this but I don't know why such simple facilities are not built-in to the Recorder box. At least allow us to record in 24 or 32 bit.

I also haven't determined whether or Reaktor 5 saves 24 and 32 bit files at 16 bit after analyzing them for the instruments/ensembles that require it. Reaktor 4 did this and no one could answer me as to whether 5 still does this.

Yes, the manual says Reaktor handles everything at 32 bits for the samples but it was frustrating to find out that I'd saved several 32 bit samples as 16 bit .wavs after giving Reaktor 4 the go ahead. It absolutely should NOT do this.

Update: OK, that really burns me! I just tried saving the analyzed 24 bit sample in Reaktor 5 and it's now 16 bits!! WTF?!

Please, NI, tell me what is the thinking behind this!?

Sure, you could tell me 'don't save the file with the analysis data, then' but why shouldn't I? The manual (I checked) doesn't say anything about the saved file being reduced to 16 bits. And it explicitly states all sample data is converted to 32 bits. Can we be so sure??? I'd like a clear and timely comment from NI regarding this matter.

    Thanks...

Hmm, maybe NI are keeping the recorder box at 16 bits so they don't step on the host manufacturer's toes?
But why are analyzed samples seemingly truncated to 16 bits, then?
I have e-mailed Julian in hopes of receiving some clarification.
