    Hello,

I recently got into FM synthesizing. I am reading FM Theory & Applications by the man who invented FM synthesizing, John Chowning. There are these two, very simple formulas: sum{0}^k c + km with k = I + 2.

How did they get these formulas? How do we know they are valid?
Anyone knows a website where this is explained?

    Thanks,

    Niels

It's a long time since I played with those FM formula (26yrs). Basic FM waveform generation isn't difficult with a simple graph generating software if you want to validate those formula. If you want to see what is happening as you change values then the easy way is to click on "Spect" down the bottom left of the FM8 navigation and play with the modulation matrix values.

Ah yes, I can see that it is true. But I want to know why it is true. Mathematical Proof!
