This is a continuation of this thread:
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117857

It still hasn't been fixed. But now I have additional incentive for NI to fix this ridiculous change to the GUI.

    check this thread in KVR
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=117857

There are users that are not even willing to DEMO the new compressors because they know what a PITA the scrolling in GR4 is. The irony of it is, all the scrolling was made necessary because of the location of the "Products" tab. The products tab itself is what is preventing buyers from BUYING THE PRODUCTS! Get rid of the products tab and the unnecessary scrolling! Return the GR3 horizontal menu.

In addition, I also asked in an earlier thread that the GR4 VST remember settings such as HiQ, gate on/off, L/R input, etc. The standalone does, GR3 used to.

Again, these changes are biting you in the ass. The KVR thread has complaints that you have to click all these settings each time you want to load a compressor. It is a DEAL BREAKER for many of them.

    +1

And the same thing is happening at Gearslutz. Many folks are passing these up due to the above issues. NI are loosing money over this. If they want GR to be taken serious as studio effects they have to improve on this ASAP.

I'm one of the few (apparently?) who doesn't really care that much about scrolling. But out of curiosity: What makes you so sure they are NOT working on it?

Don't think anyone claimed they where not.

As far as the saving of HI, gate stuff, that is working here inside Maschine as a host. It only is a problem in demo mode. It seems to not pick up those states and is the problem for anyone wanting to demo a new product.

Also even more important is it is ridiculous to have to open the standalone first each time you want to demo an effect in your host. That really needs to be dealt with. The demo process is extremely unfriendly and takes way too many clicks. A turn off before you even get a chance to start using it. Very bad first impression and it is running off potential customers.

Because it's an easy fix. It's a simple GUI change, not a feature that might effect other functions. They've had several GR4 updates to change it, but they haven't.

The reason that they haven't changed it is because they believed highlighting new product lines (Traktor, Reflektor, Vintage Compressors) was more important. I posted this follow up thread to point out, the Products Tab and the unnecessary scrolling it introduced, may be exactly what is preventing the new product lines from succeeding.

I can ask for what I prefer all I want, but if it's not in NI's interest, they won't do it. I'm trying to show it IS in NI's interest to change the GUI back. From the comments in the KVR thread, it is absolutely VITAL if NI wants to maximize sales of present and future GR4 driven products.

Agreed - get rid of the products tab and make installation of demo content optional - GR 3 was much easier to use

Thanks for flagging this. It's something that I'm passing on to the development team.

Has anyone noticed the new right click menu?
We added this just for scroll adverse users. You can even work with the sidekick closed and see more of you host :)

We also included Next/Prior category buttons. These will close all other groups and open the next one.

Nice! Did not notice that. Still think you guys need to change the demo process when used in a host. Should not need to launch stand alone that is ridiculous. Demo mode in host should also keep same preferences like leaving the gate off. Also make the sidekick hide state save and recall when saved as preset. Some are wanting singles as separate vst names for the packages like GR Vintage compressors.dll etc.

    Like the new compressors btw.

Wow, nice, didn't notice that. The right click helps alot. It will probably be all I use now. The only drawback is you don't have the benefit of visual pictures to quickly identify the component you want. You actually have to read

The next/prior buttons still require too much clicking. But it's a step in the right direction. I like how it closes all other groups and opens the selected group so that all the individual components in the group appear without having to scroll.

Please implement this behavior when you click the component groups. For example, if I click Filters when it's already at the bottom of the menu, I have to scroll to see the filters. It should automatically close any other groups and show me all the filters like the next/prior buttons do.

Then make all the component groups fit in one screen and we'll have scroll free operation. There's plenty of room to do this. See attached picture. It will still accomodate touchscreens.

Also is there any reason to have to double click the component groups? Why not just a single click, like when you click the arrow on the right. Unless there's a specific reason to have a double click, it's one click too many. Doesn't seem like much, but you be able to navigate MUCH faster by getting rid of the double click.

Finally, the GR4 VST doesn't remember gate on/off and HiQ settings. That's two unnecessary clicks every time you start up GR4. If you can't make it remember, an option to choose which option the VST starts up with would be nice (like you did with the input).

Overall, nice improvements that implemented some user requests. Keep going.

The buttons and the text are not small enough! I can still read&click them.

There was a couple of improvements. The smaller tabs as seen above and you can now save the config of the top settings like gate etc. as a default. They still need to fix the issue with demo'ing the product if you already own the full version so that you don't have to restart the program, launch standalone etc.

Would still like the effect bundles to have there own dll that launches inside container or something.

Well glad they fixed it in GR5, but they broke it even more in GR4. When you click on any component in your current rig, that entire component section expands automatically. So after awhile everything is expanded so you have to scroll even further, start collapsing component windows, only to have them automatically expanded again. UGH UGH UGH UGH UGH

Did anyone ask for this autoexpand feature? Not that I've seen. But we've all been complaining about the excessive scrolling. So NI added a feature we didn't ask for even though that unrequested feature exacerbates a problem we've been complaining about? WTF is wrong with you NI?
