hey guys, happy 4th.. so, downloaded some new patches today, rebuilt my db as i always did after loading the directory in the files option menu.. went down to find my bank name and didn't see it, which led me to also realize i'm missing an adsr 40 for 40 christmas bundle that isn't listed under a bank name either and God knows how many others aren't... so, i've read on the forums and searched google, but to be honest with you all, there's a lil bit of everything and anything, which only confuses me more... where should i head from here? how do i begin to sort this all out?

thank you all tips and advice!

Only presets that have a Bankname in it's attributes will add a Bankname to Massives preset browser. If a bank is not showing up, it can be because the presets don't have any name in their Bankname attributes.

A preset without a Bankname attribute can still be found and selected as a single preset in Massives preset browser under it's preset Name.

Presets can also be browsed using the file tree browser. You can switch between Massive preset browser and the file tree browser using the "Sounds" button in Massives browser window.

If your presets do have Bankname attributes but the Bankname don't show up in Massives preset browser, then the database rebuild must have failed, or the path for the presets is not added.

If your presets is located on a path Massive read, then you can try rebuild the datavase again. But first check if your presets do have Bankname attributes. You can do so for instance by using "File/ Open Sound" in the top left of the application and browse to the preset. When loaded go to the Attributes for the preset and see if it has a name or not. You can apply a Bankname if you wan't to. It's the Bankname in those attributes that show up in Massives preset browser, and not the folder name of the folder containing the presets.

Thanks! but if I do that for one indivual sound from a folder I bought, it wouldn't do that for all sounds right? meaning it would change the bankname for multiple sounds if I did it for one?

Every single preset need to be changed individually. The presets you wan't in the same bank you shall give the same Bankname in the presets attributes.
It's a thing that should be done when creating a preset.

But as described in my presvious post, then the presets can be browsed without having a Bankname. Just not by using the Bankname attribute or any other attribute that might not has been filed in, in the attributes of the presets.

If you browse to the folder where your presets are, then it's like browseing to the bank of all the presets one can say.

You know what i mean by using Massive file browser, and by using Massive preset browser?

you know man I reread your post but still confused,

    a) if I open up a new preset from a sound I purchased on adsr and there's no bankname, how do I create a bankname for that?
    b) your first sentence above I get, and if I understand correctly, ur saying just to the file tree where it shows the folder, and breaks down from there?
    c) massive file browser would be like the tree locator right where you click down on through the folders opening up more as they go... massive preset folder would be choosing bankname, then whatever the next category is, etc etc right?

    I attach some screenshots.
But i also suggest you read the manual and learn basic stuff like how to navigate in Massive etc...
Look at what the red arrows point at and read the text in the images.

Thought i would add to my previous post, that you don't have to rebuild the database to add presets. The preset will appear in Massive if you place the preset on a path Massive read without rebuilding the database.
Only rebuild the datebase if it's needed.

So, everything I add is always from username, music, samples, name of folder... So ur saying all I have to do is just add that new folder and I don't have to hit the rebuild database button?

I basicly have a single path to a folder where i have all my presets. But you can also add paths like i understand you do.
But as long the path is there, then the presets on the path should be added without rebuilding the database.
Every time you open Massive it scan for new presets on the paths it's set to read, and add them automaticly..

If you at a point exsperiences greyed out presets in Massive, or you find presets is missing or any other fault, then you can try rebuild the database.
You find out if you try things out.

I've heard if you rebuild the database that wipes out something? Is that correct?

Your welcome. Hope you begin to read about things yourself. It often give hints for new knowleagde.

    Wipes out?

Only invalid entries will be removed. Nothing that's okay will be removed unless a fault has happend. If you delete/ remove presets then those entries will be removed.
A rebuild of the database should not destroy anything. But it can take some time to rebuild the database. So give it tome to rebuild if you have to rebulld, and don't rebuild if you don't need to.
