If they had at least left all the old vids for free, now I'm sad!

Now I'll never finish the stuff xD

Seems like there is at least still some stuff around on Youtube luckily, great!

sorry about that - not really my decision as i just produce the content, but i completely understand why this choice has been made. there are some upsides.

first off, we'll be releasing several blocks each month. last month i released two ring modulators based on analog models, and a distortion device. so far this month i've created a block that very closely mimics the pulse channel of the nintendo entertainment system - which is responsible for most of the sound effects on that system. very easy to create recognizable sound with it. this will be released very soon. i have plans to release a wide range of blocks that will be included with a subscription

second, our previous business model was to save the best stuff for paid courses in order to pay the bills. however i rarely had time to get to those other courses because producing free content was eating up a fair amount of my time. the free content was meant to be quick 10 minute videos that could be mostly understood by people who are relatively new to reaktor. to be honest, there's only so much one can do with that format, and it's time to move on.

since we've switched over to the new model i've been able to focus my time more efficiently on more advanced topics, knowing that the viewer has access to all of our content if they need to be brought up to speed on a particular subject. since the launch of the new site, i've produced a new class on the table framework and a half hour introduction to digital filters, as well as a video showing how to translate existing blocks to work with polyphony. i have plans to continue the digital filter classes for the next several months, covering a wide range from classic filters, transfer functions, zero delay feedback filters, embedding saturation in ZDF filters, and oversampling filters. i designed a new set of oversampling filters to easily up and down-sample by any power of 2 that i'll be covering soon.

third, we've hired some folks from the community to produce content as well. i don't want to name names, but if i'm not mistaken it should be some pretty well known folks. i hope to see some stuff from them soon!

finally, if everything goes well and we pull this off, i'll have the occasional special release (IE full fledged ensembles) to thank you guys.

And I totally agree with you guys, those tutorials are great and I respect that. It was more of a remark, not a complaint. I was just surprised, hadn't checked the page for a while, and started synth and effect using those tutorials, that's all. :(

no worries, i didn't think you were complaining. i've been meaning to post here explaining the situation for a while now and haven't gotten around to it so i thought i would take the opportunity to explain what's happening and why.

    @salamanderanagram

is it possible that you could either change the resolution of your videos are somehow zoom in on the area you are working on. sometimes i find it hard to see clearly.

i will give you an example and upload a couple of screenshots:

the first is a Fullscreen screenshot from my Macbook Pro and the second is a Fullscreenshot from one of your videos.

as you can see my modules are bigger and a bit clearer.

hmm - don't agree. Here is my screenshot from retina (so i have to reduce to 50%) :( (NI please make your site retina ready). It is in original very clear with high quality.
I have played the video by iTunes.
    ciao herw

@Seoman303, as of right now the old free reaktor 5 stuff is going to stay that way. again, i don't make these sorts of decisions but when i asked i didn't get the impression that they'll be taken down any time soon.

@sowari, i'd love to help but i'm not honestly sure how. i record my screen which is 1920x1080 pixels (or whatever) so the videos will be blurry if i try any other resolution. what resolution do you have in that blurry screen shot? next time i make a building tutorial i'll try to zoom in on the area i'm working on and see if that helps.

also, does that happen to every video, or just that one? by default my cam program will output blurry 800x600 resolution and i may have forgotten to switch it for that video, in which case i should definitely fix that.

    it is every video

it it seems my default is 1440 x 900 which is the maximum.

changing the scale does not make a difference.

hmm well the only thing i can think to do is to try and zoom in when building in the future.

    thanks for the heads up.

the things is i can see when i am building but sometimes it is difficult to see clearly which Core Modules you are loading. an example of this is 'Creating a sampler in core' from the 'Table Framework' tutorials - i sometimes find it hard to see the Core Modules you loading into the structure. even the colour of the Gate input is difficult to tel if it is yellow or white.

today i will experiment with looking at the videos using Air Display and use my iPad 2 as a second Monitor. i think i can zoom in to look more closely.

but yes, with future videos it would be great if you could maybe have the recoding focus on the area that you are working in rather than the whole Reaktor structure window.

one more thing - in terms of categorising the videos - could you guys make it easy just to search or have a list of Reaktor 6 videos? unless i am missing something this does not seem possible at the moment.

I'm sure such a list could be added. I don't do any of that stuff but I'll mention it and see what we can do.

using an iPad as a second display, worked quite nicely as i was able to zoom in as i watched the video on the iPad display and had Reaktor on my main display.

I just was about to try the new site but don't have a creditcard and i don't need one. I like to buy the videos instead of streaming. Streaming is crap when it comes to tutorials mostly.

@wehkah, sorry all of that stuff is out of my hands. i odn't have one either but my bank card works to buy stuff online.

@all, here is a short demo of my newest block, star fighter. stuff gets interesting about a minute and a half in. star fighter is a near emulation of the nintendo (NES) pulse channel, responsible for many iconic sound effects:

i also used my Bank card.

having said that, it would be nice if users had the option of using PayPal - maybe you could mention that to Steve?
