    Hi everyone !!!

I've just bought Traktor 3 + X session pro +Fast track soundcard last Friday and I've been trying to set up knobs & buttons for my x session pro and I've been completely unable to make it work at all.
I've been reading past threads and I found this thread but I'm still unable to set it up properly.

    1) is it easier/possible to do it through M-audio's Enigma?

    2) What's the proper way to copy the tks file. ?

    3) Any additional tips appreciated,... i'm becoming a little bit frustrated.

    many thanks in advance,...

    What's M-Audio's Enigma?

.tks files can be loaded from Traktor's preferences Midi setup and Hotkey setup sections.

Later this week I'll try to post a video demo and review of the X-Session pro and Tracktor 3 integration. (and maybe post a .TKS file somewhere).

I'd had tried using The original X-Session with tractkor and HATED how the pitch was adjusting, the new pitch faders on the PRO have now finally completely sold me on utilizing Traktor.

After 20years of vinyl, a little bit of CDs in the last few years.....
I will only be buying 45's, DVD (to use with my DVJ-X1) and using Traktor.

The Enigma program will not work with the X-Session Pro, because, basically the X-Session pro is already SET UP with it's own preset......as it states it can only be used with software that utilizes the MIDI learn function.

So say the Pitch Slider for A is set to CC:27 (for example)....that's it you can't change it.

Which is completely cool, because Traktor 3 has a MIDI learn function?
Have you not played with that?

What your probably hoping to do is plug your XSession Pro in and just start working right? Well you need to tell which functions in Traktor that you want controlled and assign the MIDI faders, knobs and buttons. So you'll have to do this yourself in the MIDI setup or wait until I post up my .TKS file......but you might find out that I've set up some of the other functions not to what you might want them set at....but it will get you started.

Check back later in the week and I'll see if I can get to it.

Thank you very much for your reply. Much appreciated....
Yes, I tried to do it through the "Learn" function but I didn't manage to make it work.
I'm gonna keep on trying but really looking forward getting your tks file, if possible, ;-)

    Many thanks for your help.

I'm very tempted by this unit. Would like 2 though for 4 deck use.

I would assign 2 faders per deck, one being for volume and the other for key/pitch.

Yes.....that's the only downfall i'm seeing so far is not being able to controll 4 decks......but you won't be able to do it by adding a 2nd unit.

Since the controller numbers and MIDI sets are already pre-defined in the unit and not able to be changed........as soon as you press the left play button on your 2nd controller it would be the same as pressing the play button on your 1st controller.

Re: X-Session Pro & Traktor 3 TKS FILE!!!!!!

Here's my basic X-Session Pro TKS file so far.
I haven't assigned all the extra knobs at the top yet.

You may want to adjust some things as you go but this might help
    you get started.

The < is pull track back
the > is push track ahead
the Play is set to Play/Cue
the V is set to Set Loop Active/Inactive

    Pitch is Pitch
    Volume is Volume
    the EQs are EQs
the one extra dial on outsides is set to Gain
the other dials have not been set.

    Enjoy

... can I add a big thank you for that.

After much umming and ahhing I've gone down the x session pro route (mainly on cost and availability) and that file meant I had it up and running in minutes.

I think I had it operating the EQs for the P600 set up
As I don't mind the sound on the Allen & Heath (real version)
    i really don't like how it operates....so since I've got a
DJM-600 and the controller only has 3EQ buttons figured I'd set Traktor
to run in P600 mode (when I'm not in External Mixer mode)

I've just got the x-session pro today and it doesn't work. Well traktor see it but the controls don't work. I uploaded a tks file from DJtel but no results yet.

Is there something I have to setup in mac osx before using the device?

    Thanks,
    Tony T.

for some reason, I had to turn the X-session off and on again after activating it in the midi interface preference. try that.

I didn't have to setup anything in mac osx before using the device. I'm using 10.3.9.

Is there any resistance on the x-fader and verticals or is it shockingly baggy like on the old x-session?

it's not a great feeling crossfader, no. but certainly manageable. for $100US, you can't really ask for much more.

the vertical faders (volume and pitch) have resistance.
It feels a bit like cloth padding. For pitch I'm finding them
really actually kind of acceptable. I was using the X-Session
non-pro before and trying to pitch with the rotary knobs sucks!

The pitch controls actually do a pretty decent job of representing the weight of a 1200 turntable pitch fader. Notice I say weight and not really the feel (1200s have that oily feel and like I said the X-Session is kind of clothy feeling).

The X-Fader does NOT Have any resistance, It is more loose.
But I think if they were padded like the vertical faders you couldn't
pull off fast moves with the X-fader. Again somehow the response that Traktor's X-fader has with the MIDI Fader control seem to work pretty well.

For the $ that it costs and how it interacts with Traktor. I'd say overall that I was more than impressed with it. It was simple to set up (I'd say Traktor was more of a PITA to figure out, but was good that it forced me to figure some things out).....and then once I started playing around with it and Traktor it brought me to a whole new level of appreciation for what I can do and how I can control it.

So for the $109usd or so .......I'd rate it 8/10

Just wish I could hook up 2 to be able to control 4 decks.

    Cheers for the info.

It kind of blows we can't program the unit like on the original but presumably this will mean we can use an old x-session alongside a pro without causing conflicts.
