I recently bought an X1 and it is my only controller. I have a great AI and monitor set. I see where I can use map pings to use the X1 as a mixer. That's great. Have you done this? How did you enjoy it and how well does it work?

What are some other options to use as a mixer with a modular setup? The Xone K2 seems to get a lot of respect. The little Faderfox controllers look fun as well. What do you guys use? Ultimately I plan to have a DJM-900Nexus. In the meantime, I'd like to have something to play and practice with. Thanks.

I use the X1 as a mixer on regular basis. I mapped lows and mids, bpm (+-) and the crossfader to nobs. So no space for effects and looping any more, but i kinda like it. The only thing i really miss are jogwheels.
I played often in small venues/partys/bars where there´s sometimes not even a mixer and sometimes almost no space (behind the bar in betwee bottles, lol). There´s so much djing outside there beside fency clubs or huge venues and therefore a small/robust setup can be pretty handy.

Create a new mapping. Utilize the modifiers to maintain the fx section. You can have up to 4 pages of information with double function for each encoder and button with the shift button. DJTechTools.com has a lot of awesome premade maps and info on mapping. I will make a tsi for you later if you have patience.

Thanks for the replies. I did a couple different mappings myself. I was kinda surprised how easy it was once you got going a bit. I did one in MIDI mode with the top 4 knobs being eq's w/ kill switches and a filter knob and filter toggle. Then volume faders for the top two encoders and crossfader/headphone-cue volume on the bottom two encoders. I began to have a little trouble flipping back and forth frequently from native mode to midi mode, so I made another mapping similar, but just dropped all effects except the filters and mostly as stated above but made the browser encoders work in shift mode and volume faders otherwise. This suits my workflow MOST of the time. I use the hotcue buttons a ton and just kinda wanted to have all my main stuff on 1 page. Probably will alter a bit as time goes on, then again, probably will be adding a second X1 and an F1.

I agree, I love how I can basically do everything with this one little controller. I will be adding more equipment as time goes on I'm sure, but it's great for now.

If you delete the stock mapping, you sdo not have to flip between native and midi mode.
