    Hi,

I just ordered a new X1 mk2. How do you manually change tempo up/down? There are a couple of dedicated buttons on mk1.

The loop encoders suck for changing the tempo/bpm manually. I always end up with BPMs like 120.07 or some **** when all I need is 120. My tracks are out of sync in less than 30 seconds because of that.

I have yet to figure out how to manually change the tempo accurately. Using the sync button won't cut it.

I've mapped the FX1 & FX2 (the vertical ones beside the knobs) to basically go up and down 0.01bpm to give me a "macro" adjustment.

It makes things a little tricky when you use 2 x X1mk2 to control 4 decks ... I've had to make several copies of the X1mk2 template to make it work though, as I have not worked out if there's a specific modifier that works when you select your deck combo (AB, CD, AC, CA & BD).

    The manual says:

Can anyone tell me what specifically the values are when they say 'small' and 'larger' increments please?

This is the only thing making me hesitant to buy - I want to know whether manually beatmatching is straightforward enough. Thanks in advance :)

Hi, I've just been looking into this as it appears there is no way to fine tune the sensitivity of the pitch adjustment. As far as I can tell it has been set by NI and directly relates to your chosen 'Tempo Range' for the deck. For example I am testing a 123BPM track with the temp range set to 6% and each click of the rotary knob adjust the tempo by 0.5 BPM. It should in my view default to 0.1 increments with a single click and take advantage of the touch sensitivity when larger adjustments are required.

As far as I'm concerned this is an oversight or an option not yet provided in the MK2 preferences menu.

If anyone knows better please post here otherwise I'll contact NI support for confirmation of the issue.

Thanks for the info man - so just to check I've understood, when you hold SYNC and turn the encoder without pushing it, the increments are 0.5%? What are the increments when you hold SYNC and turn the encoder while pushing it?

You usually can get with like .7 of what you want or closer. From there you can sync the other deck then when you switch over reset the tempo and no one will notice the minuscule increase or decrease in tempo as it resets. So like...Deck A 128bpm, Deck B 130bpm, raise Deck A to 129.97 or 130.4 or whatever is closest, then sync Deck B to Deck A, mix over, then just reset Deck B's tempo so it's 130.

I do wish I could get the tempo changes in simple whole number. I mix from one whole number to another 124->127, 125->121, 128->132, etc. Not 121->124.5, etc. But I think the tempo changes are by % not BPM in Traktor.

    i don't use SYNC...

otherwise problem resolved...mapping one of the command effect right and left for adjust the BPM, they are more sensible like than the loop encoder...so i can put the both tracks in the same BPM...

Cheers dude, I have just acquired a pair of X1 MK2's on the hopeful basis I could map some key functions to the spare knobs/buttons on the second unit, the above seems to confirm this. Now to work out how :D

    I'm having the same problem.
For example I can get 129.6 or 130.04 but not 130bpm
Find it very odd that they haven't enabled the touch trip for finer adjustments.
Frankle - are you able to provide the steps for mapping FX1 and FX2 to 0.01bpm adjustments? (I'm not too familiar with mapping buttons to different functions and don't want to play around with them by myself on the chance I stuff up something)
I'm not using FX in Traktor anyway (I just use the mixer), so no loss to me if I map them to something else

I'll post my pair of TSI's for left and right X1mk2's tomorrow ... Right now I'm about to dig into a schnitzel sandwich with bacon and fried onion after my gig tonight :D

Enjoy the gig - and the schnitzel, bacon onion sandwich :)
By the way - are the Shift FX1 + FX2 used for anything? If not, I might look at your TSI and see if I can map those instead.
That way I don't lose the FX1 + FX2 functionality (in the highly unlikely scenario that I might ever use them ;)

Andyfoz - if you're at a club taking over from another DJ, you need a way to be able to quickly and easily change the tempo to beat match. You can't use sync at that point

There are plenty of times where you can't use sync, DJ change-overs and transitions for example.

I play mostly commercial where there are some wild BPM fluctuations and having good quick controllable tempo control is very important hence why I've mapped the extra buttons for exact (0.01 BPM) adjustment.

Oh bugger, I totally forgot to post my TSI's ... I'll sort that a bit later! I've modified them a bit more now with wave form zoom and page change :)

Hey! Did you ever post your TSI? I would prefer to use these keys over the loop or hot cue buttons, which I use quite a lot.
