I'm currently trying to figure out if it's a good Idea to switch from the classic X1 to the new X1 MK2.

For myself the only additional feature I would get is the touch-strip because I already own the Z2 which has all other features now available on the X1 MK2.
Additionally I would loose some features as the primary functions of the lower buttons are cuepoints and flux mode which also exist on the Z2. The old X1 has cue in/out, beat forth/back, tempo plus/minus and such.

Now I wonder if the touch-stripe is such a great innovation and if it's worth it to switch.

For some it will be great for some it will be a waste.
Just gotta know what works for you and go from that.

I would have rather see more knobs and button than a touch strip.
Some people have been asking for a strip so I guess this is them addressing that request.

I know that I'll be sticking with my original X1.

The touch strip is nice because you can get by without jog wheels, but 4 cue point buttons is a deal breaker for me  Hopefully these will sell enough to get us to a Mk3 version. Other than the cue points, this looks fantastic.

My advice: wait fro somebody else to buy it, hopefully one of your dj buddies. Ask your buddy to let you play with for a while, and see if you like/meet your needs. You can always buy it, play with it for a week or so, and then, if you don't like it, you can returned it ( if you do buy it and return it, let me know what store you bought it from so I can buy it from them at a discount price! :D:D:D ).

Apparently there are lots of "hidden" controls that mimic the old functionality of the original X1, so you probably will be able to access 8 cue points with a button combo. I'm sure there's a beat jump feature in there somewhere, just not a dedicated control.

Remember, the encoders are also touch sensitive, which adds more functionality. For example, pitch change is done by pressing SYNC+LOOP ENCODER. The LED readout will then display the BPM. It's probably hard to accurately assess what this thing can't do just based on the buttons it has.

I think I wrote that on DJTT;)

Yeah there are lots of hidden features and secondary functions.
Nothing is missing from the X1mk2 that was on the mk1.

I'm just a person who finds accessible not to me functional .

I prefer things to be right there not to have to do something to get to it.

That was one of the things that prevented me from going with the S4.
I knew switching back and forth to use 4 decks wouldn't work for me.

No doubt the functions will be accessible considering it's a mappible device but I still would prefer to have more directly accessible controls.
Simply not a fan of physical reduction of a device.

In a club environment I just prefer to grab and go when it comes to reaching for a function.
Others may find it ok, I don't.

You could always map LEDs to show what the loop size is .

Still it's interesting that the new X1 doesn't include a Traktor license
Must be the new trend since the Z1 and X1 mkII both ship that way.

Loop Display is shown until you change the BPM. After the BPM has been changed (and shown on the display) the LED display reverts back to Loop Display. The display also flashes when a loop is active.

Excuse me for getting a bit off topic, but I just purchased a Z2 and finally made the switch from vinyl to digital so you'll have to excuse my newbness but why would an X1 be a good companion to the Z2 with control vinyl?

well this is quite the question I started the thread with ;)
the thing is that if you own a Z2 you have, comparede to the X1 MK2, everything but the touch-strip.
I think I'm going to stick with my old X1 which is a really good addition to the Z2 and I'm going to put my hands on the MK2 when it's available at my local dealer...

Any chance one of those is a button combination to switch the transport section over to a remix deck on the fly?

There is a 4x4 grid of buttons, it looks ideal for quickly switching over to a preloaded remix set for a simple performance now and again, without offering too much functionality that the F1 becomes unnecessary for DJs who do a lot of live remixing.

Remix Deck Functionality on the X1mk2

I made a mistake in this post, here's the correction.

Remix deck functions are as follows:
When one of the assigned decks of the X1 mk2 is a Remix Deck the Hotcue buttons actually become cell triggers. 1 Slot 1 Cell 1, 2 Slot 2 Cell 1, 3 Slot 3 Cell 1, 4 Slot 4 Cell 1 etc etc.

Also all looping controls work and deck transport controls.

Its basically works an like S4 but with rgb color feedback. You can trigger the samples, just mute, delete and load the slots.

Currently the primary and secondary functions of the FLUX button are a combination of:
    Flux, Abs/Rel, Hotcues 5-8, Tap.

    Hi,
is there a way to do a pitch bend with a combination of buttons instead of the touch strip?
