    Hi all

This is also in the 'Technical Issues' section as I wasn't sure where to put it. Mods, please feel free to move/delete a thread or whatever...

Newcomer in need of some 1D-related help with set-up in Traktor Pro please.
I'm running 1.2.7 on my 2.4ghz macbook with the 1D plugged directly into it via USB.
The 1D is set to channel 16, MAP 1.

    My screen looks like this:
    http://img156.imageshack.us/i/screen...0207at020.png/
    http://img153.imageshack.us/i/screen...0207at020.png/
Basically I've tried to import existing .tsi files but the 1D has no effect and, likewise, with mapping my own - the learn function doesn't work.

Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening and what I need to do to rectify this?

    Many thanks in advance :)

    Welcome to the forum.

You messed up the links to the screenshots. One way to enter them properly is via the "insert link" icon (the one with the globe on it).

    It's been a while, I used to have x2 1d's a long time ago.
I think the drop down box should say 'Xone 1D' instead of 'Generic Midi'? Watch the 'Device Target' too, not sure what the tsi is programmed to do (4 decks?), you might need to mess about with the 'target' as Deck A or whatever to get it to register...
Apols, it's been a while since I used this...

    r-roy,

the screenshots look fine (you don't even need to send a MIDI clock unless you hook up certain devices to the 1D's MIDI ports). i don't own a 1D so I can't really help. does traktor show any MIDI activity at all when you press a button on your 1D? (check the virtual status light near the top left of the screen) also, you might wanna do a couple of forum searches. there are some threads where mac users specifically seem to have the same issue as you.

If its a new MBP the USB ports don't give out enough power for the Xone 1D. You have to use a USB AND a Midi cable.

This is the support ticket from Allen & Heath, maybe if enough people complain they do something about it, it's pretty crap they they dont warn of the proplem especially since MBP are so popular in the DJ community.

As far as we can tell there has been a change in the latest Mac's USB ports and Apple's use of HUB architecture to distribute CPU resources to the various peripherals that prevents the XONE:1D unit being powered correctly. We're currently working on a driver to get around the issue, but there are still a few minor issues with the version we have atm, that are still holding it up from a release.

For the moment the workaround is:

    1.
    - get a USB charger (the type that plugs into the wall with a USB cable socket on) to use as a 'wall-wart' PSU for the 1D.

    - plug the USB cable from the charger to the 1D

    - if you have a soundcard with a 5 PIN MIDI IN socket (such as NI's Audio8 - 2 x 1D + Audio4, or 8 is a common setup for a lot of digital DJs), connect a MIDI cable from the 1D MIDI OUT, to the soundcard's MIDI IN

    2.
    - if you do not have an soundcard with MIDI ports you will need a MIDI-USB interface that will talk to the new Macs, we've checked the MIDISport and this is OK, so I'm sure

    Best Regards

thanks for all your help so far guys.

it's not a new MBP, only a fairly new macbook (bought around 4 or 5 months ago)
the 1d seems to have enough power running through it to power the bottom row of LEDs, for example, just not enough to have any input recognised by my MB. i haven't yet tried it with any other software, such as logic or ableton, so do not know whether the problem is local to traktor or not.
    ---
also, would a powered USB hub work? assuming it was the power issue causing this?

Or buy a midi cable it's not that big of a deal and will be cheaper.

I personally prefer two X1s though

I have a Macbook Pro and a 1D Controller running fine through the USB port. Have you downloaded the 1D driver from the Allen & Heath site?

    http://www.allen-heath.com/xone/software/xone1d_eula

install it, restart plug in the 1D then open Traktor

so, you complain about the learn function not working, but first tell us:
is the 1d working (responding) at all, or do you only miss some fx-tweaking?
