I think Richie Hawtin uses two of them in his Traktor tutorial vids. They seem pretty sweet, and if I had the $, I wouldn't mind investing in that kind of set up he has.

    But...

Where the hell does one get one of those Minus cubes?

One of those would look great as a replacement to the normal star at the top of my X-mas tree.

I also think about to buy the Xone 1D after i saw the Tutorial DVD ..

But i am still unsure if it makes sense to buy two of these like Richie Hawtin and where i can get working a .tks for the 2 x 1D Setup.

All i find is .tks Files for a single Xone 1D Config :)

You know, you can map this map this thing yourself, and it's not that hard.

I recently purchased a 1d and it's my first midi controller, but I think it's pretty solid. I think my set up is similar to others in that I have the top knobs and sliders mapped to effects parameters, but I set the bottom row of buttons to loop controls and I use the jog wheel buttons to drop out loops and effects for all decks simultaneously.

Like others have said, it's easy to map the controls in traktor (if a bit time consuming) so just set it up the way you prefer.

Masterbit_Tf, I'd suggest you get one 1d to start off with. You may find it's enough for what you're wanting to do & you could use the cash you were going to use on the second 1d on something else :)

Thanx to any1 for the feedback :)
I know it may be as easy to setup everything like in i did in my personal tks. I would also prefer to setup more loop functions like gplx described. Sometimes you also get some really nice ideas of more optimised working and using all the features better when you look at the tks files of other DJs.

I also had the Impression that just ONE 1D may be enough for what i plan to do. In the end the Laptop Keyboard still remains for the Rest of all Functions. Thats why i wondered why Richie uses two of them. I thought it may have some "logical" reasons that make working with only one device impractical. In the end i pay twice for the shipping *G*

Hi I have a Xone 1d running with a Mackie d4 pro and it works fine. The standard tks file is ok but its not too difficult to remap to how you want the Xone to work best for your needs.

Main gripe I have is the issue of labelling the Xone controls because of the alt /control feature which makes a Xone harder to operate than say a VCI 100 until you get used to it. I am happy running two decks but think it would be hard to set up 1 Xone 1d to run 4 decks which is why RH has 2 Ids I think.

    Cheers Rob

It looks like it's going to be even more difficult to run Traktor Pro with one 1D. I'm thinking specifically of assigning effects to decks and such.

I was thinking of using two MIDI pages, one for the FX and one for looping. Otherwise it would be hard to control 3 FX on each channel with a single Xone 1D :/

I agree, I think I'm probably going to have to buy a 2nd xone 1d once I get familiar with Traktor Pro!

RH setup is (like he says in this Tut.Video) the 1d to the right of the Xone:92 is for controlling loops and FX from Traktor, the one to the left is to control other FX (from the second laptop, wich isn`t used on the tutorial),
so i think one is enough!
i think of it myself, to get one of those, it would fit very well to my Xone:92, and regarding to my free update to TraktorPro, i think i could finally get rid of my turntables at all.

looks like a good idea, to map it somehow like RH does, the upper knobs for tweaking TraktorFX, the faders to add them (while the 4 decks can be controlled on the 92 with the 4band EQ and filters)
    -
and use the rest for controlling of loops.
this would leave me with far more possibilities than replacing my SoundBYTE loop-player, wich has more and more glitches every week.

    it looks really great -
exactly what i`ve been waiting for.

can`t wait to check the update

i personally use a Xone:3D, and have extensive experience using a 1D/92/2D setup. the controllers are quite brilliant, you just need to map them yourself - i found the preset configurations were a bit convoluted.

my layout is divided into two primary sections, one for effect control, and the other for looping; then there are various controls for the deck transport, browser, etc.

for the effect side, i map the 4 parameters vertically on the xone - the fader is amount, and then the two knobs and rotary encoder get the other virtual knobs. on/off is mapped to the encoder's push function. the first row of buttons is the freeze function, and then effects selection goes to the remaining two buttons.

For loop control I move in a similar manner - loop length is the fader, and engage is the rotary encoder push. the bank of buttons gets mapped for beat jump, loop divide/multiply, etc. - as a focus function. that way you have a bit deeper control for which ever deck you're tweaking.

i also have extended loop parameters set to the other midi pages for ease of access, again as a focus function. traktor wants to have your midi page access restricted to a shift function, but you can easily open up your tks file in a text editor or preferably a xml editor and hack the control to a toggle. it works better for me that way...

as a side note i use my xone controllers in map2 "ableton default" because i like the rotary encoder mapping and the bottom toggle buttons to light on/off so i know what i'm doing...

if you already have an analogue dj mixer you're comfortable with, the xone 1D/2D combo is fantastic. one of the nice features about the 3D/4D that can't be replicated on the 1/2D is that your cue buttons on each channel are midi controllers too, and can be mapped as your focus. then you only have to focus once, rather than focus traktor and your audio source separately....

    hey, this sounds amazing.
i can`t wait to test that.
i don`t start rightnow, i wait untill the "pro" arrives, but then i will pick up the 1d - and maybe i`ll shout for some help.

    thanks
