I'm a bit confused, where do you start the sweep? from 0 or CW? Then double click on the filter knob at CCW?

As a side note; Although it is nice to always have a filter around, I'm not too fond of Traktor's filter or the one on the 4D. They sound a bit harsh to me and not as warm as the 62.

    @xzenonx
that's how the mixer works by default - the main mix will always come through the headphones unless a cue button is selected and the cue/mix knob is rotated entirely to the cue side. you'd have to modify the cue circuit to have it work like you want.

    @ cliffm
sorry for the delay. the hpf should be swept the full range from ccw to cw, return it to the full ccw position, then you click on the traktor deck filter to reset it so it tracks properly. you do the same with the lpf, but cw and ccw this time...

    @selector97
yeah, it's ridiculous. when i took that photo i did an a/b test of the soundcard outputs routed from the 3D into the V6 and then the native 3D mix section and the difference was staggering. using the V6 is like nothing else, it acts as a muse for creative mixing in way's you'd never expect... the headroom is amazing and coupled with the choice hpf's on each channel, plus the sculpting of the isolator - you've got an amazing sonic tool box. it's worth every bit of the price of entry.

    Mixarchitect,
thanx for a great job. your TSi works best out of all I tried on my Xone 4D.
    I do have one remark/question;
Everytime I load a track using the right Jogshuttle it loads the track allright in de deck that is in focus but at the same time opens de browserview (making the playing decks invisible). I have to click on the right jogshuttle again to make the decks visible again. During a live set that is not realy what I want.

I was wondering if you programmed this behavior or that is it my 4D having a mind on it's own?

    thx again
    regards from sunny Amsterdam

    hi djp

thanks, glad you like the map.

what you're experiencing with the jog wheel/browser is by design, but could be easily changed.

to select tracks, i bring up the full browser by pushing the right rotary encoder above the jog wheel. i added a macro to close the browser when the load into focused deck command is triggered.

that was a byproduct of a macbook screen and full size decks, rendering the track explorer to be about 4 lines when not expanded. i can understand that it would seem strange for that to happen if you loaded a track with the browser view minimized.

to change that out, the quickest way would be to bring up your midi map preferences, sort the everything by midi note/cc's.

look for the load into deck commands and the toggle browser on the same midi note should be right next to them. there will be 4 - one for each press of the jog wheel. delete the 4 toggle commands and you're good to go.

let me know if that works out or hit me up if you need some help.

    take care - t

    Update for TP 1.21

    hello again.

for those interested in the continuing development of the mix architekt maps, i recently completed an update to reflect the changes in TP 1.21, and made a few 4D specific tweaks. unfortunately, my design computer is still on a boat crossing the pacific to my new home in bangkok, so we'll have to explain the changes in text until i can make a new template file.

    what's new?

    effects:

with 4 processors to use the controls have doubled so we've moved the 4 parameter knobs to be in a cluster above each deck column - this also means that we've dropped pan support and effect 1/2 switching, as well as had to compromise some of the button options for the effect units themselves.

here is the breakdown of control, per deck column, starting from the top (if that doesn't make sense, please refer to the pdf explanation of the previous version):

left endless rotary encoder - dry/wet amount - push for effect on
right endless rotary encoder - parameter 3 - push for next effect
    left knob - parameter 1
    right knob - parameter 2

this setup is intended to be used with one effect processor in advanced mode inserted to each deck - deck a gets fx 1, deck b gets fx 2, and so on. this mapping follows the CABD format, so please make sure you are routed accordingly.

    other features:

the shift modifier has moved! it was on the left rotary encoder above the left jog wheel, but for 4D users it created a bit of chaos in shifting the mixer into it's alternate midi state. it is now on the right side rotary encoder above the right jog wheel. it does create a slight problem of bringing up the browser window. you'll now want to double tap and then hold to access the shift modifier state.

upon doing this you'll have access to deck scrub/seek functions with the two jog wheels for the focused deck.

using the 4D's midi shift function you can now have access to all 8 hot cues via the bottom light pipe buttons. hold the left rotary encoder for a few seconds to shift the 4D, then the light pipe buttons will act as hot cues 1-8 going from left to right for the focused track. use the cue buttons to focus a track. hold the left rotary encoder for a few seconds to shift back to normal operation.

    reminders:

the HPF/LPF filter knobs still require one to do a full sweep and reset (double click on the deck) for proper operation.

this is an adapted port of what i use to perform with so some features you always use may be omitted. please modify it to fit your own style and needs.

with that said, having one of traktor's fx assigned per deck is only one way of working with them. i didn't include all of the possible effects, since i don't like them for the most part. i did put together a few presets, which mostly default to the dry-wet mix knob starting at 0; this way you don't get any surprises as you change effect types. mapping the insert fx buttons per deck to other controllers is definitely a thought, as well as working with chained fx and other presets, but i'll leave that for you to explore.

personally, i'm not a fan of traktor's effects or filters, so my everyday map loses support for them and is transport oriented only. i use the 4D's midi output to control my eventide time factor delay, and have a jomox t-resonator for crappy reverb sounds.

also, i'm now working for allen & heath/xone in the pacific asian region. we'll be doing a series of product clinics in thailand, singapore, malaysia, indonesia, japan, and australia over the next months. please get in touch if you're in the area.

that's it for now. ocean cargo should be here soon, so we'll update the templates once i get my desktop computer setup again. if there are any questions, problems, comments, please let me know.

    Thanks for making these tsi's:cool:

I've been using your 3d tsi for my 4d for over a year now.. it was WAY to much hassle to make my own from scratch. its worked out perfect.

i changed some of the mapps to make it more efficient mainly in the seek track fast and slow parts.. having to go into shift mode to seek a position in the track and having to come back out of shift to set the cue point was to slow.

I found that i wasnt using some of the other functions so i moved some of the them arround...

i'm going to try this 4d one you have made.

Again many thanks.. it would have taken me months to build a tsi from scratch.;) :D

nice! i'm happy this is working out for everyone and that the maps are evolving relative to the individual.

it's interesting to hear about work flow...

for instance, i rarely use the scrub/seek functions, and rely on cue points and the beat jumps to explore tracks. i use seek during my homework phase; so shifting around isn't a big efficiency issue in that context. i can completely understand if it was to be used in the heat of the moment...

it's become part of my process that after a track is tagged and keyed, i'll place cue points in all the obvious places... like breaks and major sections, then depending on how deep i go i may place cues at a given interval before a mix point. as i'm mixing the new tracks are tweaked into phrase positions with the cues or beat jumps. i really wish there were some selectable colors for cue points... i don't always notice my "don't play this part" tags in time.

...which has resulted in more and more tunes being re-edited into what i want them to be; usually a byproduct of the 2 min beatport sample assumption surprise, or loving a track but hating it's phrasing. at a certain point we're almost better off working on an out right remix or fresh tune that meets the concept.

    :)

    hi hi

i just got my computer back from the boat so i'll have something up soon, hopefully in no more than 2 days.

the dates for the australia and japan xone tour are booked for december. i'll be doing workshops with the 4D and DX, related to traktor and a few other applications.

if you're in asia, we're setting up sessions at our primary outlets to help educate and share technology and technique. maybe some techno musik. we did a small gig in singapore last weekend, and will be in jakarta and kuala lumpur next week. after that the DX/4D bit gets underway. so please come out and we'll have some fun with this stuff...

    a full update

i ended up redoing a few things to the template and map, adjusting some functions, and writing a readme to cover everything going on. it's all compressed and in a zip file for ease of distribution. you'll find it attached here and also available on my site:

    http://www.mixarchitekt.com/teknik/mixarchitekt-x4d-tp122-midimaps.zip

everything is about the same but the deck duplicate function has been shifted to fit with the rest of the metaphor, and there's a new "no sync" function for the play/cue buttons to make it easier to get into someone else's last tune. the readme lays everything out in great detail.

    more soon and enjoy!
