I started out mixing with NI and Traktor. I've advanced in terms of hardware quite a bit over recent months, and after purchasing the DB4, and realising the lack of Scratch certification, I'm feeling let down by Native Instruments.

I have a superior sound card in the DB4. Having to purchase an external sound card just to run TSP would be a pretty pointless purchase.

I have invested a lot of money into Native products over the last 12 months, and feel that certification of the DB4 would help to encourage a lot more people into the world of NI and Traktor. Surely the NI business model would welcome an influx of new customers.

I believe this thread becomes pointless. No reaction from NI so far. Further NI will bring out their own mixer it seems. Only Pioneer mixers were Scratch certified recently. It looks like they don not want more players within the business of certified mixers to sell their own prodcuts.
The good thing is that other companies are catching up, this making the change to other equipment possible and when its going on like this at NI more than rational.

Interesting. Why didn't my first reply get posted on here?
btw, I posted what appears to be some sort of workaround, about 3 or 4 days ago, but it doesn't seem to have made it past the NI forum moderator.

Are we not supposed to post links or workarounds on here?

Probably not, assuming the workaround involves working around NI's copyrights ;)

I know that workaround too, but do not use it as I want NI to make this step for their customers. It can not be a big thing giving out certification especially as many wrote they would even pay an extra for it.
As this problem can be resolved on software basis why not add an extra product in the shop to make your mixer capable of reading NI timecodes.

I totally agree but since this thread has been going on well over a year, I not hopeful of anything official changing... Its a real shame people need to hack (like the remix decks) to get the basic functionality they want and deserve.

Hey buddy, I just tried responding to your PM, but I got a message saying "You can only send PM's to staff" ... apparently since I have less than 20 posts on the forums.

PM me your email address and I'll respond to you directly via that method.

Heh. Probably true... shameful that they're like that (sorry to say it), but at least that clarifies things a bit.

Surprised that nobody even posted anything about seeing that video despite this thread being up for a year.

Thanks Ramyt! I put my email in the message so maybe that has been screened as well. I actually managed to find it after 5 minutes on google, there are some posts on the A&H Xone forum.

    Disagree 100% about scratch declining.

Look at CDJs that use time code and even the SC-3900s which I personally use (and love).

Skimmed through your message so quick that I completely read right past your email address! Oops! Anyway, glad you found the video. Hoping it helps... can't wait to try it out on my own this week.

Sent you an email, btw, about A&H forum. Write me back when you can.

    :D

Yes, and Amazon - prices for new ones are pretty ridiculously high though. Good thing I already have 4 at the house.

I don't disagree about it being harder to find Technics in the clubs over time, but that doesn't decrease the argument for scratch certification. There are tons of CD players out there that aren't 2000's, as well as many folks who want to use vinyl at home and at the club. Not to mention non-Technics DJ turntables, which are still in production from numerous companies. If the DB4 had more inputs on the back this would be less of an issue of course, since a NI soundcard-based solution would be easier to implement.

But I disagree that ebay is the only place to find Technics turntables. One of the reasons they stopped production is that there's a glut of the things - probably thousands of brand new decks in boxes in warehouses around the world. The current prices are inflated beyond belief - I don't know if they'll ever come down though, as long as Guitar Center and whoever else has a place to store the boxes, they will sit tight until someone walks in who's willing to drop $1500 for a new deck. But I'd be real interested to see an estimate of how many new tables there are in warehouses like that around the world - I would be that the number is a lot bigger than most people would expect.

I have just bought a DB4 and would like to add my support for Traktor Certification.

I support this so much, I've finally joined the forum!

Seriously, I'm a massive Native Instruments fan and think certification of this mixer would be another feature in NI's cap.

Just purchased this mixer. The fact it doesn't have certification at this point is....laughable? Not sure if there's any more hope for it to happen, but nevertheless, I hope NI comes to their senses at some point about this.

Isn't the lack of certification just a royalties issue? I guess A+H decided they didn't want to cough up anything to NI when they made the DB4.

Which isn't surprising really since it's not a typical scratch mixer.

And this would make sense since A&H in the states can't manage to cough up 4 cheap rubber stickers (the feet) that have peeled off on my DB2.

I wouldn't hold my breath for certification. It's been 2 years, right?
