Xone DX

Its finally arrived. Can't wait to get some playtime with it.

 

you use it with itch or with traktor then ? pls write a short review if possible )

can't justify spending the price the dx is worth considering its only MIDI?

I'm also keen to see how it may works with Traktor Pro, I heared from several people that it should work just great with traktor.
Can you say if there is any documentation regarding Traktor included in the box, so how to setup Traktor, or maybe a ready to go TSI file?

 

Just had a quick test with Traktor. I mapped out a few controls and it works flawlessly. I also own a Vestax TR1 and audio 4 so I'm comparing to that at the moment. Audio is great. Latency down at 1ms @ 88200 and not a click or pop anywhere. My audio 4 ran at 1.5ms @ 44100.

As for the manual which is on the itch disc. There is no reference to Traktor in it but there is a very detailed layout of the dx and it shows your the midi note each button/fader etc which really helps.

it's not midi only... it has a 20 channels audio interface

 

It works great with Traktor and as it works on 5 different midi channels is wicked for mappings as you can create 5 different controllers within Traktor for it, having 8 modifiers for each of them and depending on the layout you're working with, make some complex stuff you couldn't make with another controller.

About the price, well, when you get the product you have the feeling it is a well made and valuable thing into your hands. Its sturdy, has its weight (unlike some plastic controllers made for the low end budgets), looks good. And the fact it has a mixer section make you feel you got a mixer too. I still have a djm8000 and the DX looks as good next to it that my other Xone products or my previous CDJs

Not disappointed at all on this side. And until NI doesn't realease a 4 channels/fx units/mixer controller (with an integrated soundcard please ), it's one of the best midi controller on the market (very subjective opinion of course I don't wanna launch a debate over that).

 

i'd prefer one without...actually I ordered a DX but the audio part will be useless if it does not match the quality of my current card... and I'm not rally keen on paying for an Itch licence (dou you think I can sell the Itch license without the DX )

 

What soundcard are you using at the moment?

I currently have the audio 4 and I have not noticed any audio differences between the dx and it. The audio 4 runs at 1.5ms @ 44100 and the dx runs at 1ms @ 88200

 

I'm using a TC Electronik desktop Konenek 6 which as a bloody excellent output level and quality.

Yeah the video will be up tomorrow night, sorry for the delay just had a busy weekend. I haven't made a tsi file yet as I'm currently using Mix Architekt's one which is great and he has helped me out alot with it. But you will be able to see how the DX holds up with Traktor. Personal opinion - amazing

I am in the final phase of a 4 decks/4 fx mapping for the dx and Traktor.
Should be available in the next days.

I am still deciding whether to get the XoneX or the VMS4 which is around 500$ US

Does the DX have a universal power adapter, Like would it support 120-220v?
Was thinking if I got it I would import it & save approx 600$

I'm getting angry at my supplier it was meant to be sent on fridy and no news at least I'll have it with Rainer's Mapping

 

At a glance, seems a great mapping, good work as always Rainerh, makes me want to order the DX right now but my brain tells me I should wait for another 4 deck controllers coming soon to have plenty of choice and maybe save a bit of money.
