Are you guys going to keep it or sell it you think? I just got it and but I don't know if it makes sense having it. Don't know justifying paying $598 for the S61. Hope its worth it. Mine wont get here till monday. I have maschine studio, so isn't it redundant?

I've just added Maschine Studio to my S61 and set it up today. It definitely compliments the Studio especially if you want to play proper keys. I've always used midi keyboards as used to be a Cubase user so i needed one, i just use the pads on the studio for drums. Its a great keybed too and having the knobs on the keyboard as well as the studio helps with workflow too. no going back and forth to change parameters.

I'm going to keep my S25. While I think the maschine/KK is in its infancy and browsing is still a little awkward, and the KK software is sorely missing pad layouts for the chord sets (as is Maschine), I do think these improvements will come fairly quickly, since they are so obvious. Another function I find missing missing is a volume control (I guess you're suppose to use the computer for that..?

I think its very disappointing that the S series keyboards are only 64 bit compatible with Ableton.

I just grabbed the S49, and I can't see myself getting rid of it. I kinda like the fatar keybed and I find it fairly easy to play. Wanted something to integrate with Maschine as I have a studio and I do want to have a keyboard for better playing. I have a Roland A-500 pro, but it will not do the scales and arp with Maschine.

So I am a guitar player and drum machine drummer by default. I have always had a midi keyboard but until komplete kontrol I never felt inclined to learn to play the keyboard. Even though I can use chord sets or ableton push, I find myself enjoying playing the chords and learning to play for real with the light guide, Maschine studio lists the chords and then the light guide lights up when you hit the pad that corresponds to that chord.

I also am loving the automatic mapping of sounds and plugins to the knobs, both for NI products and 3rd party. I think it's a little expensive but still worth it for the added functionality. Plus this is version 1.0, it's gonna get better.

Agreed here. The S61 is the best keyboard controller I have ever used. Quality is great. So is the maschine studio.

I upgraded to Maschine Studio from MK II after using the S61 for a week. The integration with Maschine and in Logic is not like any other controller I've had and I believe I've tried them all at one point or another. The key bed is second to none. I wasn't sure how I would like to pitch strip since I prefer the Roland sticks, but this pitch strip is better than wheels or the Roland sticks in my opinion. I find I can do the pitch tricks I'm used to doing and a few new ones. Lastly I thought the LED colors on the keys would be gimmicky in MIDI mode, but I'm actually finding some useful function for them with drum and sound menus I save.

In fairness, I will add this is my second S61 since the initial one had a non functioning pitch strip. Sweetwater swapped it out within days and the replacement worked perfectly.

What was the problem with your first one? Was the touchstrip not working at all or would it always get stuck permanently at the top anytime you moved near that area?

The pitch strip would get stuck at the the top, sometimes at the bottom, sometimes I could turn it off and on again and it would work once then get stuck. No firmware update or software update fixed it.

New one works perfectly, and the more I use it the more things I like about it. It will be difficult to ever go back to a normal controller. I'm hoping they release a synth action 88 key since I prefer 88-key keyboards, but always like to have one synth action board in my setup.
