    Hey Kore users.
If you're like me, you received an email recently with this title:
"Celebrating 15 Years of Native Instruments - Your Gift as a Loyal NI User"

In the email NI thanks you for being a long standing customer who has bought a lot of their products, and offer you a NI t-shirt and little pamphlet celebrating NI as a company............

So yeah, I was hoping for, thinking NI are smart people, maybe they know to throw out an offer of $20 or even $50 towards Komplete 8 or Ultimate or whatever? You know maybe try to lessen the financial burden of being a loyal user? but no, none of that, they expect that a t-shirt advertising their brand and a self congratulatory pamphlet for free is cool....

Please, if you at all think that it's just absurd that you're now stuck in a decision between upgrading to Komplete at full price and cross-grading to Maschine for a total of $600 to stay "current" with NI while breaking Kore.... if you think this is pretty much a slap in the face to loyal users like I do, then please call, write and email them.

I called the US support line, and I plan on emailing them as soon as I'm done with this post. I was trying to find the Sales staff email as I felt that was the most appropriate but tech support I guess will do. Though I cannot say I have any faith that tech support will make it known that people are upset.

It's not even a gift, you get it by buying something these weeks.

When IK Multimedia celebrated their 15 years existence they offered 15% discount and a group sale :)

I hope NI's december will be as good as last year ;)

No it's free. I can get all the way through the process of ordering it, it takes you to the german version of their site, but I'm not prompted at any time to buy another product. In fact they consider the package worth 45 euros and minus that from your "order" when you put in the coupon code.

A 45 euro discount on Komplete or any item you wanted would have been appreciated as a loyal customer. :(

Oh, I think I missed the coupon code then :) No matter, I'm not going to wear an NI t-shirt.

At this point I am just rooting for NI to survive the European Banking meltdown intact...so I helped by doing the upgrades to maschine and Komplete Ultimate. If you think the company is annoying now - it could be worse for them. Here's sending some positive vibes to NI to hunker down and stay strong for years to come.

Well personally I'm not at all interested in Maschine, my band uses a live drummer, and beyond percussion work Maschine IMO doesn't offer me anything that Live doesn't do with full DAW capabilities, so a discount does me no good.

I'm frustrated that updates to Komplete instruments are breaking Kore compatibility, I've only updated Reaktor and that has made it so I have to load every ensemble ksd by hand. I woulld Love to upgrade Guitar Rig, but it will break more Kore sounds to do so.....

I'm already experiencing bugs in my DAW, Digital Performer shows a non threatening "crash on quit" bug that generates a report that implicates Kore 2 as the culprit.

NI are not hurting, in fact sales are splendid, last year was a record high in profits according to their own reports. So I'm failing to see why I feel sorry for them? I've bought over the years:
    Absynth
    upgrade to Komplete 2,
    Komplete 3,
two years of Komplete Care, (essentially k4 and 5)
    Komplete 6,
    Kore 1 hardware and soft,
    Kore 2 software,
    Electronic Instruments 2,
    Kontact tutorial DVD
    Absynth tutorial DVD
    Rig Kontrol hardware.

I'm now in the position to shell out $600 for Maschine and Komplete 8, or even more if I wanted ultimate, and my thank you is a t-shirt with their logo on it. I seriously do not see how a $45 coupon for "loyal users" is out of the question? but hey, obviously they are going broke reporting those record sales figures.

I'm European too, self-employed, business is going bad and they vapourized my time investment in Kore. Komplete Ultimate is something I really have a need for but not without integration in my Kore-based system. They could easily update Kore to read the new format. They don't help me, I won't help them.
    ---
I updated everything and am experiencing no problems in Logic 9/Snow Leopard... Kore will load the right Reaktor ensembles. Guitar Rig will not break koresounds, it's a different vst id.

Could you point me to their "own reports?" I would love to see more information.

I'm just curious as to your source for this information. Also, verification you don't mean "record high sales" which is completely different.

Christ? you're stretching the facts to fit your opinion already? Software is very obviously a sales driven profit based product, I seriously refuse to argue with anybody about that simple fact online...

No need to get bent friend. Not trying to argue. Simply trying to obtain facts, and to my knowledge NI doesn't release any financial information.

This is what I thought. It's not profits, but revenue growth which is completely different than profit.

I'm not getting bent, you're being a pedant, you know for a fact that revenue growth is important, but you're attempting to discredit my statement by framing the conversation, it's disingenuous at best.

Come on guys lets be civil. No need to argue about what NI has or doesnt have. Lets just be musicians and take our loss in stride. I have seen to many arguments, verbal fights and disagreements every since this whole Kore fiasco. NI handles their business the way they want to, so lets all get past it and move forward. Let our love for music rule not our feelings about NI.

Seriously, there's nothing uncivil about anything I've said. I'm merely pointing out that he wants to debate, but only on his terms. Speculating that NI might be hurt by mentioning the years old recession, while attempting to again frame the conversation by defining what someone can construe as progress and success for NI, while acting as if he has inside knowledge into what is important as a measure of success. Best part is it's all in defense of his speculation that they might possibly be hurt by the economy..... if that's not being pedantic I really don't know what is? :p

    Wow. I wrote this:

"Could you point me to their "own reports?" I would love to see more information. I'm just curious as to your source for this information. Also, verification you don't mean "record high sales" which is completely different."

And the above is your conclusion? I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you read a old post of mine months ago where I said none of us know the financial situation of NI, and the recession could be hurting them. With the success of Maschine and their DJ line, I doubt that is the situation now.

I was simply asking if you had information I had not read as to NI "own reports" that I would like to read. I was NOT framing a conversation, assuming you have inside knowledge, or defending any speculation.

You wrote "last year was a record high in profits" and that is wrong. They had a record year in REVENUE. No one to my knowledge outside NI knows anything about their profit.

    Please relax.

You are reading way too much into my question. It's very important to understand that "record revenue" doesn't equal record profit or net gain, and business with "record revenue" file for chapter 11 bankruptcy every day. I'm not saying that is the case with NI, however a few months ago I was curious because of reduced USA support hours, and a change of NI ownership.

As Klutch says most of us feel the same about the NI abandonment of Kore, and especially the way it was handled. I completely agree.

    ow

Sorry if this isn't making sense you but you're so caught up in making your point you're stretching to fit things into your world view. You hypothesize on the possible failure of NI and then attempt to discredit revenue sales as an indicator of their financial health, so in fact you are trying to frame the convesation. So it's OK for you to hypothesize on NIs bank account but others must live up to the shadow of doubt based on your statement that revenue sales are no indicator of health... again you're being a pedant and trying to frame the conversation, it's not an insult it's a simple statement if fact.
Remember you are the one who hypothesized that NI need our support in a thread about NIs IMO poor decision on how to reward loyal customers. Do you seriously think your conjecture about NIs health is a better indcator than revenue sales? I don't think you do, takes me a while to figure out when I'm being unreasonable sometimes too.

I'm not upset at you, but I do hope you won't coninue to argue the 'finer' points of this with me. I understand that's your right, but you know what they say about arguing on the Internet..

Well I just checked my email looking for the free T-Shirt, I've been an NI customer for years and have duplicate licenses for some of the software, upgradined to Komplete 7 right before Komplete 8 came out, basically wasting my money.

And no NI email for a T-shirt. Wow.
