Hi All, I hope someone can help!

OK so the home setup goes like this...

Traktor Pro, X1 and Z1, External Soundcard in my studio.

When i select the Z1 as the audio device in Traktor the headphone out works as it should. Cue deck A and B fine.

Now when i select my external soundcard and use the Z1 purely as a mixer the headphone out and cue buttons are useless!
This is really frustrating! I have sent the out put monitor in the internal outputs settings and sent that to my headphone outs on my external soundcard and it only plays the master out signal, the cue buttons on the Z1 do not switch the source :(

Someone please tell me what i'm trying to do is possible...?

Surely there must be some kind of work around...I dont want to use the Z1 as my soundcard just as a mixer and set of eq's. I need headphone outs for deck A and B to work as they do when the Z1 is selected as the audio device!

Any idea's will be most welcome!

    Cheers.... Dave

Did you turn the Cue Vol up on the Z1?

Yes.Thanks. The Problem are not the headphones. I want the connection to the speakers via my Audio Interface, that I use everyday in my studio (steinberg ur22), but fully use the z1 as a mixer with all the headphones prelistening functions.

    Same problem, "ideatemusic" had...

    Hi!
Just trying to Setup the Z1 + Traktor PRO2 + external soundcard.
I have to route the mix master output to the external soundcard and not through the analog output of the Z1.
So, as writen above, the Z1 has to work as a mixer with headphone cueing.
To do so, I selected in Traktor's 'audio setup': Build-in Soundcard <my external Interface>.
Now, I would expect, that the master is routed to this soundcard but it's not!
Any idea, how to setup here my system properly?
Note: If I play music from my Windows 10 laptop, this external soundcard works fine.
In case, there is no solution here, I have to send back all the new bought stuff, because it's not working as expected.
Before I bought it, I called NI in Berlin regarded to this question. I got a positive answer that it WILL be possible...
TX in advance for a solution!!

In case, I select in Audio Setting: Audio Device = <my external soundcard>, the master Output is routed to this soundcard, BUT then, the Cueing functions via headphone on the Z1 are not working...
So, when one part is just solved, another one get broken!
    Solutions possible??

Also on MAC OS, = same failure! Z1 isn't cooperating with external Sound Cards... look here: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/no-signal-from-cue.197720/

Ok, seems I have to cancel my idea to go with Native Instrument products!
I need to Output the mix master in DIGITAL Format (means: external soundcard) but Z1 becomes a meaningless piece of hardware, because all headphone Features are kicked out...
    Very frustrating here!
Anyway... hard&Software will be returned ASAP and I'm looking for a more practical and flexible solution for DJing...

Set up an aggregate device as described here, combining the Z1 sound card with the other. In Traktor preferences, choose your newly created device and configure your main and monitor outputs accordingly.

Sorry, didn't pay close enough attention I guess. Maybe there's a similar solution for Windows, idk.
In any case, Traktor will only allow the use of one audio device.

As I suspected... The Traktor Hardware is impossible to get connected to digital sound Systems in general. That's why I will return the useless Controller Z1 and look for better soft and hardware solution with not such no go restrictions...

Also the top model S4 doesn't have a digital master output to play with digital sound systems. To convert the analog output by another AD converter make no sense and shows the restrictions of closed hardware designs... Bad made!!

You're not going to find digital outputs on any controller though. Have you considered an external mixer (with digital outputs) for your needs?

Not by NI products, but by Pioneer supports digital output, for example within the model CDJ-2000. As you can see, on a PRO level, it's not a feature to discuss. But you have to pay 10x the price... All depends on needs and I was on the wrong track here...

Yeah, the higher end CDJs and DJM mixers have s/pdif.
If you're on a budget, maybe you'd be interested in the DDM4000 from Behringer? That has a digital main output. Otherwise, Allen & Heath's Xone DB2 also has s/pdif. As far as players go, Denon's new SC5000 is a bit cheaper than the Pioneers but, still a bit pricey.

Well, good luck, man! I hope you find something that works well for you!

Yeah... TX... Let's look for best sounding solution!
My closing words here: why isn't this restriction documented somewhere, to prevent unnecessary work and disappointments?
This made me most angry, because 1st you have to go through by try and error, then ending in wasting money and time...
... until today NI says, digital output is not a problem! Not funny anymore....
