Z1 freezing Traktor DJ

Got my Z1 today and everything is working fine with Traktor pro on the MacBook = happy teddy bear.
However I plugged it into the iPad (2nd gen) - it automatically asked to allow to communicate with Traktor DJ - fine. It started working no problems but then after a minute (maybe) the audio went as though it was underwater and the deck playing started moving really slow, no knobs or faders responded so had to close Traktor DJ down. Opened it up again, the noise was gone, I tried to play a deck and it just clicked. Closed down Traktor DJ fully and unplugged the Z1 from the iPad. Repeated whole process and the same thing happened i.e. played fine for a minute and then crashed.

Does anyone have an idea what's going wrong?

Try to plug the Z1 to a power supply by using the included AC adapter for iPad/iPhone

 

The Z1 was already plugged in as i was using it with the full version of traktor just prior to using it with the iPad.

 

Then I don’t know more than that coz I have never tried it with iPad, from your post above looks like as if a power problem was.

 

Do a reset of your iPad. Switch airport mode on, start Traktor, report back.

 

i have the same issue

my setup will work fine for 10 minutes and then lock up. i haven't found any rhyme or reason to it either. i reinstalled the app, restarted the ipad etc. sometimes the app will crackle and pop and other times it locks up completely. it has also force quit itself a few times. : /

 

Reporting back - I deleted and did a fresh install of Traktor DJ - turned on the iPad, put it in airport mode plugged in the Z1 - loaded a track into deck A and away we go - 43 seconds later audio goes slooooooooooow and deck slows and everything is under 10 feet of concrete - side note is that just prior to the crash I dared to twiddle the filter knob.

 

Is this beyond anyone? Do i need to go through and get an NI ticket that'll take seven years to get an answer back from lol?

 

This doesn't answer your question or solve your problem, but Traktor DJ on my 2nd Gen iPad freezes right after launching the app (within seconds) and if I fiddle with the Z1 faders or knobs too much, it usually results in a crash. But if I let it be for a minute or two, it comes back to life and won't crash or freeze after that.

 

Im on a second gen iPad - so your saying plug the Z1 in, don't touch it or load any songs on it for 2 or 3 minutes and then play with it?

Or

I'm aloud to put a song in the deck and let it play as long as i don't touch anything?

 

#1 in my case, because the freeze is almost instant - but your mileage may vary. Maybe you should try both? I usually flip one of the faders to an opposite position, wait until the freeze is over after which the app updates the fader position on screen, and I can then load a song in either of the decks. But like I said, my problem might be unique to my iPad only...

 

Just to be sure if it works with my iPhone 4 I tested my Z1 with traktor DJ app for an hour because I want to use it in the future as a backup, works perfect no freezing issue the only remark I have is that the USB cable is short.

 

I was thinking it has to be a faulty 30pin iOS cable, as when it freezes on the ipad I unplug the iOS cable and the ipad then carries on working perfectly, plug in the iOS again and it works fine for a minute before freezing everything.

I've just tried it with my iPhone 4s and it works perfectly, absolutely no problems, had a play around for half an hour or so, testing the EQ, effects, loops etc etc.

So I guess that throws my faulty cable argument out of the water.

Again, very frustrating and all very well that it works fine with Traktor Pro on the macbook and the iPhone but I bought the Z1 specifically to use with my iPad as a bit of back up kit so this defeats the object.

 

I started to have the exact same problem since yesterday. I was operating the same setup (ipad2 and z1) for 2 months without problems before. I did NOT update to new iOS. Ticket is pending and I will update here in case sth comes out of it.

 

At the mean time you can check if your Z1 needs an update by downloading the device updater, you can find the device updater via service centre > tech support > downloads > drivers and other files > traktor kontrol Z1. Note: click on the what’s this? and read before you download.

 

Did that already, no dice... Monday maybe the ticket _could_ be answered...

running iphone4 with Z1. once i updated traktor DJ all the tracks play to slow or two fast even when not in sync. also Z1 is laggy.
fn sucks. looking on the app store and the red sticker says "FOR iPHONE 4S, 5 IPOD TOUCH 5TH GEN....."
cant downgrade a frikken app. think NI wrote out older gen products.

 

I got an ipad 2ndGen latest ios and the Z1 for a week now Yesterday i couldnt get the Z1 connected to the ipad for around 15 minutes. it just didnt show upon traktor dj.
After it got a connection all ran fine until i was using fader and rotary buttons it started to crackle and had connection drop out between both devices.
I stoped the tunes moves all faders and buttons completele laft right up down after this it worked again but i still get connection drops like you take out the usb cable for a second.(sound came s the out of the ipad speaker)
anyone an idea how to solve this because i cant work like this.

 

I had the same problem, wasted a lot of time uninstalling drivers updates and things like that. go to audio set up settings and increase the usb buffer (to 4ms) problem solved for me anyway
