Z1 + Traktor Scratch Pro

Any word on how well the new Z1 mixer will work with Traktor Scratch Pro?
I have a mixer that i am kind of reluctant to mess with because i feel like it will just be easier with a traktor certified mixer. and this is a very affordable one so i want to give it a try. i just don't know how well it will do with it. :|

 

It's not Traktor Scratch certified - it has no inputs

 

just to confirm then, does this apply if I have a vinyl A6 timecode set up on tractor scratch?

Is there no way of getting the Z1s channels and crossfader to work while using vinyl timecodes?

 

A6 , timecode vinyl & z1 work for me. Z1 becomes a midi controller and you monitor from the A6 The only thing I can't figure out is how to map the Master volume and Head phone volume to the Z1. Everything works

 

I'm at a real loose end then, all the other controls of the z1 work automatically with A6 but not the faders and crossfader. I've run through everything with tech support so far but it's the same result every time.

Are you on a Mac? If so would telling me how you got it working?

 

I'm on a Mac. I struggled with the settings as well. Make sure your master output to monitors goes from output A or B on back of A6 and not Master Outputs on front of A6. Configure accordingly in A6/A10 config app from NI Sercice Center

 

Yeah I've got that sorted anyway, it runs fine as Traktor scratch with my old DJ mixer. But I was hoping to bypass that completely by having full use of the Z1 faders. Did you use an aggregate device on the macs audio midi setup?

 

No ag device is necessary. Try connecting just the Z1 and the A6. Z1 via USB to Comp. A6 via USB to Comp....RCA Cable output A to your Monitors/Speakers. Under Preferences....Output Routing....Output Monitor 1. Main Left 2. Main Right......Output Master Left 3. CH A Left Right 4 CHA Left. Also make sure A6 is thet up as Audio device (Preferences...Audio Setup)
Dont use the outputs on the front of the A6 in this set up

I just bought a Z1 and Traktor Pro 2.8 is for some reason, not recognizing the Z1 controller, controller editor is for some reason unable to connect to the Z1 even though on the Z1 control panel it shows the interface is connected and ready to go, is anyone else having this same issue? any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks! I'm on a pc running windows 7 btw

 

No idea about pc. I'm on a Mac. Did you install z1 windows driver? Z1 was pretty much plug and play for me. Did you use the TRAKTOR set up wizard in preferences? it may help you sort this out

 

thanks for the reply, I tried using the setup wizard and the Kontrol z1 doesn't even come up as an option as a controller under the native instruments controllers...do the mods ever check these threads?

 

I know it's been said but is there by any chance a way to map the master and headphones to the Z1? 9using it with vinyl set up)
I'm one step away from having a flawless set up, it's a massive dilemma.

I'm still exchanging emails with NI Support about the headphones, no results so far but there has to be something otherwise they'd have just said point blank that it can't be done.

Ok, that was quite a long exchange of emails, one of them very kindly phoned me today for a personal walk through, followed by another an hour later where I'd miss understood. BUT, it works!

Here's what to do, you want the headphones plugged into the A6 or A10, and you want to wire your master output from the A output. (As the A6 main output will be playing the headphone cues.)
So ones A6 channel A is wired to your speakers/analoge mixer/PA, get the output routing like this.

Try your headphone cueing out with the Z1 buttons and you should be done.

 

I'm trying to get my Z1 setup as a mixer with Traktor Scratch Pro whilst my mixer goes in for repair and also sounds useful as a space saving option if I rearrange my setup (my normal mixer is quite a bit bigger), sounds like you managed to get this working but I can't seem to make it work no matter how I configure it. Could teknon0tice (or anyone else who managed to get this setup and working) please attach some screenprints of all their settings pages so it's impossible to go wrong, I'm sure others would find this really helpful as well. ie the audio setup, output routing, input routing, timecode setup, controller manager etc screens.

I have 2 technics turntables, a Z1 mixer, an audio 8 soundcard and traktor scratch pro - need to be able to use the Z1 as a mixer for traktor scratch vinyl (and also normal vinyl if that's possible?).

Would be really helpful if I could get some further guidance, haven't slept for a long time so I may have missed something obvious but I'm sure I've tried just about every possible settings combination so far!

I think I resolved it by reinstalling the usb drivers for my laptop, that got my laptop to finally recognize the z1
