DESCRIPTION

The Krell patch is Todd Barton’s modular interpretation of the Ancient Music of Krell song from the 1956 Forbidden Planet film soundtrack. This Krell is based on a self-retriggering envelope that sends out an end of cycle (EOC) signal that retriggers the envelope and randomises certain parameters resulting in a never ending stream of dark sci-fi ambiances. FM is used heavily to drastically expand the soundspace and it is probable that Krell will not produce the same soundscape twice even within a specific snapshot/preset. Krell has three polyphonic units that FM each other in a circular/ring configuration. Snapshot randomisation works really well with this thing. colb's snap breeder (https://www.native-instruments.com/en/reaktor-community/reaktor-user-library/entry/show/7965/ - highly recommended) was used to generate a full sixteen banks of snapshots. Check the following link for more info on the base Krell patch/block diagram that this is based on: http://manual-synthesis.info/2017/01/26/krell/ . I am sorry I do not know who made the excellent multi-mode ZDF filter, post a comment if that is yours or you know where I got it from (possibly from a forum post). A reverb and 'Autovol' are included to add space and control the somewhat unpredictable volume. For some reason running this at 44.1k causes the display modules to flash unpleasantly so maybe run this at multiples of 48k rather than 44.1k. Reaktor 6.4.0

This is great! I dropped the ez randomizer from the UL into this and it instantly became my go-to ens for ambient wallpaper. There is a great variety of soft noize and spacey bleeps, blurps, and singing sines in here. This was the pleasant surprise of the year! Thanks so much!

@Guillaume: I guess you could but I think that would remove the automatic and chaotic core of Krell. @Greg: You are welcome. The Button is a manual envleope trigger. I was using it to manually trigger when it seemed the env was not working but usually the decay time or hold time was too long in those cases, I just left it in as a 'performance input'.
