8-Bit Probabilistic Destruction
Another Block in Michael Hetrick's "Euro Reakt" series! This is the last of the 8-bit destruction Blocks for now. I think I got it all out of my system =)
8-Bit Probabilistic Destruction with Sample Rate reduction and a variable SR filter.
This takes the A/D and D/A conversion Blocks and stuffs eight probability filters between them. Each probability filter determines the chance that each bit will be turned to "0" when its "1". What does this mean? Well, amplitude-sensitive destruction more or less.
After all of the bitwise probabilistic destruction occurs, there are three output controls. These include a Sample Rate reducer, a low-pass filter, and a dry-wet control.
Think of it like the world's most over-complicated bitcrusher. This will probably only be useful to the biggest lo-fi and noise nerds. Is it total overkill? Probably.
UNI8 - 8-bit unsigned representation. Expects a unipolar input signal of 0-1, but don't let that stop you from using bipolar signals!
BI OFF - Scales and offsets a +/- 1.0 signal to 0-1 before using the UNI8 encoder. Naturally, detail is lost.
BI SIG - First 7 bits are used to represent your signal. The 8th bit carries the sign of the signal (positive or negative)
(In the future, I would like to add more encoding/decoding methods, including two's complement)
Three modes of RECTification.
NONE - No rectification. Normal signal.
HALF - Negative component of signal is silenced.
FULL - Negative component of signal is flipped (Takes absolute value of signal).
OFFSET - Adds a DC offset to the signal. In A/D conversion, this happens post-scaling. In D/A conversion, this happens pre-scaling.
SCALE - Attenuates and/or inverts the signal. Turn on X2 to amplify the signal as well.
SRATE - Reduces the sampling rate of the input.
CUTOFF - Determines the cutoff of the low-pass filter.
D/WET - Dry/Wet mix.
STBLE/VAR - Changes whether the filter receives a stable sampling rate clock, or is crushed.
AC/DC - Turns on DC blocking. Use AC for audio, DC for modulation signals.
