THE ROUGE
Vintage Monophonic Synth
DESCRIPTION
This is an emulation of a vintage mono synth from THAT company.
The original was considered a scaled down version of the Prodigy synth.
The two oscillators (Saw and Square/Pulse) must play the exact same waveform but can be detuned.
There is also only one envelope generator that is shared by both the Filter and the Loudness Amp, offering just Attack, Release (Sustain can be switched on/off).
What at first glance seems limitations actually makes for a very intuitive and versatile PERFORMANCE synth. One neat feature is the Synch option of the two oscillators: Switched to "contured" you can detune the second osc via the "AMT" over 4 octaves. This makes it really scream - especially when you raise the volume of the osc's into high level: You then push the filter in to overdrive. Wicked.
The sound example I provided features one saw bass which I played with LIVE via a customized midi controller. The fun starts at about 0min50sec ;-)
Future developmental include Midi-Sync for the Modulation. Should be handy when you trigger the envelope via LFO.
Enjoy.
