Reaktor 6
Effect Multi-Effect

DESCRIPTION

This is a multi-effect device that combines several typical glitch effects such as highpass filter, lowpass filter, bit crusher, distortion, digital delay, roll and pingpong echo, scratching, tape stop, and stutter.

I have designed this effect towards usability, especially for live performance. There are just 8 knobs and 8 buttons, so it's easy to map to a MIDI controller without getting lost in features and settings.

Have fun!

v 1.7
- Since also the highpass filter seems to color the sound even for lowest cutoff, I inserted another smooth step function, so that for low HP cutoffs there is a smooth transition to the unfiltered signal.
- Added a switch in B view to select the LP filter type

v 1.6
- Reaktor 6 ensemble.
- In previous versions, the LP filter colored the sound even for maximum cutoff. This is now fixed by adding a steep, smooth transition to the bypassed filter signal for high cutoff values. Also, I exchanged the (Moog-type) Ladder filter by a (Prophet-type) Pro-52 filter, since it better preserves the volume for low cutoffs and thus has more punch. If you prefer the Moog sound, just exchange the two Pro-52s (for left and right) with Ladder filters.

v 1.5
- Added the possibility to change the speed factor in the B view, to enable really fast stutter effects
- Changed the scope view

v 1.4
- The duration, in beats, of the tape stop effect can now be set in the B view.
- Replaced the DLY button with a multi-purpose TRIG button, whose functionality can be set in the B view:
- "Mute" to mute the output (for manual stutter)
- "DLY Gate" to gate the delay effect dialed in with the DLY knob
- "Reverse" to reverse the audio
- "Rev Stutter" to turn all stutter buttons into reverse-stutter buttons

v 1.3
- Removed the tape stop fast-forward noise again, since it wans't really convincing and doesn't always fit into the music.
- Merged the two tape stop buttons into one single button whose time value can be adjusted in the B view.
- Added a DLY button that gates the delay effect dialed in with the DLY knob (which now remains ineffective until the button is pressed).

v 1.2
Added a settings page in view B where the FF noise for the tape stop can be enabled/disabled

v 1.1
Enhanced tape stop effect by fast-forward noise on button release

Had to apply the same fix to the HP filter, as also this filter seems to introduce some slight coloring of the sound, even for lowest cutoff. Also I added a switch to choose between different LP filter types (Pro/Ladder/Neutral). Version 1.7

Sergey, you're totally right! I have fixed this issue with version 1.6, where I also swapped the Moog filter with a Prophet filter which has even more punch. Note that from 1.6 on you need Reaktor 6 to use the ensemble.

Love it. but it colors the sound if no effect applied. At least highs(above 15k) cut substantially.

I´m really enjoying this! And, I wanted to make sure the DLY button does what it does...I mean, it kinda fractalizes the sound, but I dont seem to get any delay effect... that is normal, right? maybe a sound sample could be shown to see it in action? thank you!

I think (hope) I uploaded my final update. Now there's a multi-purpose TRIG button whose functionality can be set in the B view. See the description for details.

Hey thanks for considering my suggestion :) great work!

Thanks Ian, I implemented your suggestion and added a DLY button that enables the delay effect that is dialed in with the DLY knob (which now remains ineffective until the button is pressed). That enforced me to merge the two tape stop buttons into one, since I want to stay within the 8 knobs / 8 buttons limit. However, you can now adjust the tape stop duration in the B view. Also, I removed the ff noise altogether, since it wasn't really convincing and stood rather in the way of the musical flow.

Very well done and easy to use. A trigger button for the delay would be good, as well as a dial

Hmm, the tape stop ff noise may be not always fit into the music, you're right. I've made a new version with a settings page in view B, where you can disable the ff noise sound. Does that do it for you?

Hmm, ok, but you did write - Enhanced tape stop effect by fast-forward noise on button release - and I'm quite sure I heard the difference when using tape-stop 1.0 compared to 1.1. That's all I meant actually, not that it's a big issue, got many tape stops and is totally up to you! I will probably find it once I take a better look, so no worries ;) Cheers!

Thanks for liking it! I just noticed that the IDs of the ensemble got somehow scrambled so that it wasn't possible to assign all knobs to controllers in a DAW. Therefore, I sorted and compressed the IDs and uploaded the ensemble again, under the same version number 1.1, because there is no difference in functionality really.

Outch, now I have overwritten the version that doesn't do the fast forward, I think it should have a switch at least, I personally wouldn't need that behavior as much even tho it's a nice little addition. If you point me in the right direction I could just remove it myself :)
