Reaktor 5 or lower

DESCRIPTION

This is a simulation of a prepared guitar, and contains a collection of exciters, resonators, and electrical circuits that can be connected together in various ways to make sound.

It contains:
Five exciters: a hammer, a fan, a scraper, a bow, and a wind source.
Four resonators: two strings, a metal bar, and a wooden body.
Three electrical circuits: a delay, a saturated tube, and a filter.

Some features include:
The strings can be obstructed by either a finger or a slapped fret.
The metal bar can either vibrate freely or be clamped at one end.
The wooden body resonances can be stretched in frequency and/or time.
The exciters are jittery, and the bow is hairy.

Jonathan Style has graciously created the skin and a large collection of snaps. Additional skin colors can be found in the included 'Alternate Colors' ensemble. The tube was provided by Robin Davies.

Breathtaking. Thanks David Coffin for repackaging it for even more modulated and mangled rejoicing. Thanks Chet for enriching all of our lives.

As fine a twanger as could be desired; makes most every other PM string synth seem tame; thank you!!

i've been hooked on reaktor goin on three years now. i've seen, gawked and eventually somewhat understood all across the board, and i'm here to tell you, this one reigns king of them all. this ensemble knows more about physics than physics does

Is there a way to use this to "excite" my own small samples (either in .wav or .mp3 format)?. Does anyone know of any existing Reaktor modules or instruments constructed this way, so that I could use my own samples in them? Thanks!

this thing is awesome. can i adapt it to become polyphonic? or am i missing a button somewhere?

Excellent! Customizable and wild potential. i wish there were more people making (and asking for) physical modeled synths! THANKS!!

You're truely amazing when it comes to anything modeled.I haven't tried this yet,but from what all these heavy-hitter builders are saying...

Thomas Lehn is a genius. glad you like SIAC :-)

Phil - took a look at the SIAC - Wow - fantastic! I'm definitely going to spend some time with it. As for Thomas Lehn, I saw him perform with Konk Pack in Toronto a few years back - my friends and I were impressed with his wild synth playing (accompanied by the inspired torturing of a tabletop guitar)

Phil Durrant - Synth-in-a-case: Hey! Thanks for the tip! Now if only we had a Wii style interface for hammering, bowing and matrix-card jamming! A virtual Ebow maybe? Excellent stuff - wonderful.

I don't deserve any credit. Chet is the man here! And I really agree with Don, for me this is a break through instrument (as I said above), just the sounds I have been wanting so much and never able to get. Also mix this up with Synth-in-Case...damn that is fun stuff. smiles!

wow! I saw the thread suggesting someone try this, but I never really expected this as a result. I see this a real breakthrough. I can't wait to dig in and see what sounds can be coaxed from it. I love the "scraper" feature, which is cool when assigned to a hardware slider. Thanks Chet and Jonathan.

"Very nice - CPU usage is a bit dire - but I like this very much - now all we need is an EMS AKS synth emulation you can jam virtual matrix cards into to get a little Konk Pack style Thomas Lehn jam happening..." BUT..... there is an AKS Synthi emulation :-) and some of my snaps were inspired by Thomas Lehn (i have done loads of gigs with him) download Synth-In-A-Case v2.1 By ZooTooK NOW! it is on the first page in the UL top 100

thanks guys for taking up the challenge. i think this goes to prove how talented and great the Reaktor community is.

“Be very careful with speaker volumes - changing presets is an adventure!” This can be somewhat controlled if you assign something to bypass the Body and Bar modules when changing presets. This tends to be the most problematic area in changing presets; I have been bypassing them if I change a preset when they are active or if they are going to be active, but on many of my snaps I have the resonance turned up this is where it will happen most, even without changing presets. I have really enjoyed playing with this instrument, there are many in the UL I truly love, but this one really stood out as something I will be using a great deal. I thank Chet for putting this together it is terrific, something I would have never ventured myself. Thanks Chet. Note: When I was making the GUI and the snaps I assigned many of the parameters to controllers. I deleted most of those but I miss three. The scraper amount, Fan RPM and Error are all assigned to controllers still. Sorry for this. Simply reset these to 0 in the properties and deactivate their status or use midi learn to overwrite the controllers. Thanks.

There are extra inputs and outputs in the attachment matrix so that you can add up to two more additional modules, if you wish. They're currently labeled 'Unused'.

I have not tried it yet but FIRST of all wanted to thank you for responding to this most interesting 'challenge' and applying your skills to what should be a fascinating experiment... will be back later to comment after some prodding and auditioning ;-)

One suggestion for the scraper - make it an x-y area with scraper in x and y assignable to a modulator.

This is one of the first ensembles I've seen whose core cells appear readable and understandable. There's a great deal of stuff in here that can be re-used for other projects, besides the things that can be done with it as-is. The Contrabass patch, for instance, is great. There are lots of great instabilities inside for the occasional surprise sound, too. Be very careful with speaker volumes - changing presets is an adventure!
