FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.

Q: What is a "Powered by KORE" Instrument?
A: A KORE Instrument can be best described as a collection of sounds running within the free KORE 2 PLAYER or the full version KORE 2. Both KORE 2 PLAYER and KORE 2 can be used as a stand-alone instrument or as a plug-in (VST/ AU/RTAS) in your favorite host sequencer/DAW.

2.

Q: I have the KORE Instrument installed and registered, but I can't figure out how to start the application.
A: To use the KORE Instrument you need to have installed either KORE 2 PLAYER or the full-featured KORE 2 software. If none of these are installed on your computer please visit the NI website and download the free KORE 2 PLAYER, install and launch it and your KORE Instrument will immediately appear in the browser of the software.

3.

Q: Can I load my KORE Instrument sounds into other NI programs I have running on my computer?
A: Yes, but some sounds might need other engines that are part of KORE system. Please check the "At A Glance" table on the individual KORE Instrument webpage for detailed information.

4.

Q: I use my KORE Instrument in the KORE 2 PLAYER. What is the benefit of purchasing the full-featured KORE 2?
A: The KORE 2 PLAYER and KORE 2 are based on the same concept and use the same engines but KORE 2 PLAYER has several limitations. Please check the comparison chart. KORE 2 also includes a versatile high-quality hardware controller which provides a high degree of mouse-free parameter control and can also be used as a universal MIDI controller.

5.

Q: Are the KORE 2 PLAYER and the KORE Instruments available for Mac and PC?

6.

Q: Can I re-download a KORE Instrument that I purchased online earlier?

7.

Q: What is the difference between KORE Instruments and KONTAKT Instruments?
A: KORE Instruments are designed for the KORE platform (KORE 2 and KORE 2 PLAYER) and can make use of up to six integrated sound engines - ABSYNTH, FM8, GUITAR RIG, KONTAKT, MASSIVE and REAKTOR. The KORE platform was designed to support complex multi-layered synthesizer sounds. A unified control layout gives instant access to all the most important parameters. Other KORE-specific features include "Sound Variations" with seamless sound morphing and a powerful attribute-based preset browser.

KONTAKT Instruments are designed for KONTAKT 4 and KONTAKT 4 PLAYER, and rely completely on the KONTAKT sample engine. This format is primarily used for instruments that are based on large amounts of sample material. The Performance View feature of KONTAKT also allows for more specific control panels with advanced instrument features.
