    Hello,

I am a newbie with Maschine..(you noticed because of the question)

I want to sample a sound or a drum loop from Vinyl.

Is it possible to connect my Vestax PDX 2000 with an RCA to MIDI cable in to the MIDI Input of Maschine so i can sample from an external source, (MIDI in on Maschine)?

If you have an anwser you would help me out.

    Thanks

No, you can't connect an audio cable to a MIDI input. Connect the audio output of your turntable to the phono input of an amplifier. Then connect the audio output of the amplifier to the audio input of your soundcard/audio interface. In the Audio and MIDI Settings this soundcard/audio interface has to be selected.

First of all, thanks for your anwser.

I will connect the maschine to a mac.

So what i need is an audio/soundcard interface to connect my phono turntable to it?
    ( i also got an Rane ttm56)

Then i need to connect the audio/soundcard interface to my mac with usb?

And after that Maschine has to be able to see my audio/soundcard interface so i can sample from an external source?

    Thanks

    That's the idea.

The audio from a turntable usually should be amplified first before going into the audio interface (unless the audio interface has a build in amp) and that's what you'll use your mixer for.

Turntable => mixer => audio interface* => Mac

    *USB or FireWire

Oke, its starting to get clear.

So for instance, i have my turntable connect to my mixer,

then i must connect my mixer(line?) to the audio/interface, from there the audio interface is connect with usb to my mac.

If i set this up, is maschine able to record any thing i play from my turntable?

(i didnt bought it yet, so thats wy i am asking)

Wich audio/interface card do you recommend?

Thanks for the help so far, i appriciate it.
