This is a 7 channel sample based drum machine (note: the channels are pretty light on the CPU so if you've got a bigger screen than mine feel free to stack 'em up). I made it to use as an effect in Ableton Live 2 and 3 to give myself some live step sequencing possibilities for shows. Live 4 now includes impulse which integrates a lot more cleanly then this does but it's still fun.

I've been mucking around with this for almost a year now, and I'm quite aware that lots could be added to it. I and Mike Shannon have used it at a few shows and it has proven to be quite fun and stable as is however, so I figure now is as good a time as any to let everyone else have a go at it.

Thanks to Mike for testing things on the Mac side and to Martin Brinkmann for lots of inspiration.

Would it be possible to add filter modulation? Perhaps a second coloured box layered on top of the green volume box.

One of the most instantly-gratifying ensembles I've encountered as of yet for creating usable variations of drum patterns. Huge thanks for making it straightforward to work with, and for taking the time to update the B panel for quicker access to sample maps.

this is a very late comment, but - this is amazing! its beats seem to change and morph over many bars in subtle ways, probably due to the random granular nature. really inspirational, reminds me of MB's "minimal morphing drum machine" thing, only 100X better.

this was a nice surprise. The first Reaktor 'drum machine' I actually found usable. Lends itself to polyrhythmic stuff, and like the morph feature. Nice

Refreshingly easy to use! :-) Should have easy access to samples via the panel, though, imho.

great ensemble, i even LOVE the tweo kompakt/perlon-styled presets like akuf'u'n and the studio1-pattern. changing the maps isn't so easy, i like the way i can handle that within 'krypt' for example just by clicking on the waveform and opening the map-editor. bye the way, this lil' drummachine is so awesome i really hope to see a version2 including more presets to play around as well as maybe some 'special fx' like i've seen within limelite&krypt, for example the granular buffersize, a slight reverb and - for sure - that krypitcal and fantastic-random-generator which does produce 4/4-rythmic (!) patterns thru a choosable random-pattern-mode. despite of that suggestions, it's a unique, lil' and fantastic drummachine, very, very lovely. so lovely that i've been using a sequence for a lil' track you might find here http://elektrophunk.packts.net/audio/westend/subtil.mp3 njoy as much as i do enjoy working with your ensemble! cheerio, chris member.support@technosluts.net

totally rad... like, the sounds are cool, but what i most love about this ens is how well it is designed. it's really easy to play around and get funky patterns going, and also to quickly get it back to working like a "normal" drum machine. that's key. i've been tweaking around with it a bit too, would it be okay to post my own mod of it in the near future?

This is fantastic. Thank You. I appreaciate how easy it is to use. And, unlike some of my other sequenced ensembles, this locks in smoothly with logic 6 on my powerbook G4. Really, thanks for sharing!

Scoooooooooot! Trop cool, mon ami, trop cool! Sweet ens you've got here - thanks. Two suggestions: a) it would be great to be able to adjust the amount of random snap creation/deviation; b) the morph seems to jump very early from X to Y, like after 5% towards Y from X, the X snap is almost completely changed. Then again, maybe I need my 2nd cup of coffee... See you at the Micro Mutek! ;-) PS: one more suggestion would be individual drive for each part as opposed to only global.

Yes I was sure the sample loading thing would be the first issue raised. I'll sort it out next week some time. Regarding the solo buttons, for future developments I will probably concentrate on the multi-out version, as this is the one I'm actively using at this point, and doing all the mixing in Live cuts the CPU load almost in half; it takes 8% CPU on my PIV 2.6 laptop, versus 14% for this version.

because it uses a graincloud sampler, this is a little bit different. i like this. i have a suggestion or 2 for improvements. i like the mute buttons but solo buttons would be nice. more importantly, Session users will not be able load their own samples, because there is no access to the samples from the panel. maybe you could make this possible for one of the views (AorB) ? but very nice.
